So, I've never understood this "If you don't lead your team to a championship, you can't be considered great" argument. To me, one thing has nothing to do with the other. Dan Marino never won a championship, John Stockton & Karl Malone never won one. Ernie Banks never won a world series. Are they not among the greatest players in their sports? I'm not sure whether AJ is top five or maybe 6 or 7, but I don't think whether we win the MAAC or not makes a difference in how great he is. I do believe out of our recent crop of excellent players he is the one most likely to stick with an NBA team. And now that I've said that - Thanks AJ - go out and win us a MAAC championship!

You're right--you can be a great player without having won a title. But the players who are absolutely considered the greatest ever to have played have generally won a bunch of titles.

Agreed. More than the MAAC championship factor, the NBA factor has absolutely no impact on where AJ ranks in all-time greats. Just my opinion.
Some of the greatest college players of all-time never turned out to be good pros, but that should have no impact on how their amateur careers are remembered.

The title argument is a bit different on the collegiate level than the pros. Especially when you're talking about mids where the entire season comes down to a three day tournament. I kind of get the argument when you're talking about NBA players. Totally different when you're talking about college players.
AJ's track record is:
Frosh (NCAA -- half season only) Soph (NIT) Junior (NIT) Senior (?)
I wouldn't remove him from consideration based on the above track record.

Ill agree with the earlier AJ point that Joebird made--his story isnt quite finished yet. If he leads Iona to a glorious March, then gets drafted or somehow makes an NBA roster, then he has to be in that top 5 conversation. But I cant put him there yet. It's top 5 GAELS. Disregard NBA for now.
