Wants to play right away? And be assured of a lot of minutes?

Educated guess. Not a report. High D2 is as good as low D1 and you still get a scholarship.

I guess Cluess would rather go with all these "one year wonders" or so he hopes. I though Proctor could develop into a very good Maac player. I am disappointed and hope he flourishes at his new school.

My take on this is more on the state of todays college basketball.
With so many players looking to transfer every year and scholarships not automatically renewable each year (other than the Big 10), players lower on the depth chart are vulnerable.
It's a tough fact, but constantly looking to improve is a necessary evil that D1 programs must do to remain relevant.

It again gets back to how many transfers would you like on the roster? Nothing against transfers At All. Just think we need a mix to get us through long term. Don't believe we ideally want 10+ transfers on the roster if we can help it. Need some player. Development. Thoughts?

Good article, but in my opinion doesn't speak about one of the biggest issues that lead to so many transfers. A major problem are the set live periods, that restrict the coaches from getting a better look at kids for longer periods of times and for the kids to get to know the programs better that are recruiting them. While I have friends that both run and/or coach AAU programs, as well as helped finance a program for a few years, AAU is another major problem. AAU is great in giving kids exposure at events in front of many college coaches, but the sad truth is that many programs want to push kids to the highest offer, whether it's a good fit or not just to make their program look better placing kids in "name" programs when more often or not the kid will wind up looking to transfer for more PT or simply run off.
The issue is I have seen many kids with LM offers have 1 good weekend at an AAU event, and be offered by MM/HM programs, just off that weekend. This also leads to kids committing to programs that they really don't belong at, and add to the ridiculously high totals of transfers every year.
OK, I will get off of my soap box now, but I just hate to see kids manipulated.
