Not too worried. We were brutal from 3 and on the glass and still almost beat a good team on their floor.
I like the defense. This team will have a different feel from other Cluess teams with no back to basket scorer and overall better defense. This team will be fine. Villan should be banned for his idiotic post.

I guess their might be a reason University's were not knocking the doors down to grab coach[/quote
Just the type ungrateful mindless post I expect we will be seeing a lot of especialy from those spoiled by the past 7 years...
If game was watched with a open knowledgable basketball mind you would have observed that Cluess did every thing a coach could do with what he had and did what he could to inspire and find the best cominations...OT

Some good some bad. Disappointing to once again get off to a poor start. First Half defense and rebounding was abysmal. Iona teams are not going to win shooting that poorly from 3 but this team will be a top Maac team, despite the lack of height and rebounding. Starters: Much-One of Best players on the team, although overall played so so. Casimir-Just not the same player. Will Brown looked like he told his team you can't let this kid get open looks from 3, and he didn't. Needs to have defenses giving him some freedom for him to get going. Griffin-Nice overall player but doesn't have confidence from 3 and that is a huge negative for a Cluess player who really is a guard. Crawford-Looked terrible in the pre season and again today. Sophomore slump? I think he will eventually get back to last season McGill-Not a great game for him but probably our best overall player. Has balls. Edogi- cluess best ever center at running the floor, but can't score on his own. Overall I like, but I would like a lot better with a big man who can create on his own. Seaforth-Did not Play? Must be in Cluess's practice doghouse. Svandrlik-Came in for one second made a bad position foul, Cluess yanked him. Cluess gives no leash on non stars.Lewis- Drives to the basket well, nice length, most of all couldn't get going due to foul trouble on several ticky tack calls. Williams- No minutes Ristanovich-No Minutes Kensmil-Showed a nice offensive move in first half, but then didn't get any second half minutes, Cluess must feel he doesn't know his system yet. Cluess does not like Freshmen unless they can put the ball in the buckets. May be our only back to the basket player. This team will be 5-7 going into Maac play. Likely 13-5 in Maac play. 18-12 going into Maac tourney where we will be one of the favorites. Cluess gives no leash to stars. But they get more than one minor mistake.

I️ like Cluess I️ don’t want to be compared to the idiotic previous post, but he can be a bit tough sometimes on certain players.
By the way I️ have this iPhone glitch that doesn’t let you type the letter after h on its own. Driving me crazy!

Last post: Team is very talented, just different than usual Cluess team. If they are hitting 3’s they will be very good. 5-7 pre Maac record prediction is based on schedule being brutal, most games Gaels will be underdogs.

Make one more three. That’s all. A good team finds a way to win that game. We got KILLED on the boards, very similar to the MAAC final against Siena, but that team found a way to win that game on the road in overtime. It's early, but its early for everybody. I believe the threes will fall against Syracuse, but wont be enough. 0-2. That being said, there was one year where we lost on the road vs Valpo and Oregon St. to start the season, with two of the most pitiful performances in the Cluess era. We didn't look terrible in this game, but there are some obvious problems. If they can be fixed, I trust TC to do it.

I️ lied:
Nice night by the Maac. Looks like the demise of the Maac was greatly exaggerated. Go Niagara! Monmouth with a gift.

Frustrating loss. Lewis/McGill/Much hit three straight threes in a 3 minute stretch, to put Iona up 49-47. Thought they would go on a typical run we have seen over the years, but missed their last 5 attempts. Not overly concerned over the three point shooting, but the rebounding really needs to improve. Going to need patience with this team.

Cluess gives no leash to stars. But they get more than one minor mistake. I saw him pull Sean Armand after 11 seconds, 14 seconds and 35 seconds all in the same game. Not sure if you would count him as a star.

When he was a likely a freshmen or sophomore. Seaforth is likely a star and didn’t play at all. I️ meant an established star. Anyway he sometimes has too quick of a hook on certain players. How about letting one minor mistake slide on svandrlik? Cluess is a great coach, but that doesn’t mean he can’t ever be criticized.

I can't convince my wife who said that Iona would have won if they abandoned the three and just drove to the basket. I tried telling her that "3's" is the TC style. Couldn't convince her.
Also, I could not rationalize why we started such a small lineup, when we had to be expecting a rebounding problem. My biggest concern is our passing as it didn't seem that we had many open looks on three's, due to that 'extra' pass. A staple of the TC style.
Much showed some early rust, but by the end of the game, he looked like the guy we (me) were expecting. Along with Ricky and Zach, I feel that it's safe to say that we have a 'Big Three'. Throw in Edogi and Griffin/Crawford, depending on matchups, we'll have a solid starting lineup. Our bench is still in question.
Unfortunately, with Syracuse as our next opponent, we'll have to wait until we get to the Bahamas for our first win. And hopefully our first two or three wins.
I like that TC gave Gavin Kensmil a taste, and think that he showed that he can play at the DI level. Hope for him, 'down the road'. Circumstances kept CJ on the bench, but his time will come. While I know it's just the first game, I do think it's safe to say that Jan and Tyrell won't get much PT.
I'll close by asking if anyone else, besides me, thinks that Jared's absence made a difference, last night?

Good post 59. Turning point in the game was the three point play after an Albany miss. Edogi couldn't pull the rebound down, otherwise we would've had the ball tied and likely won the game.
