Iona down 1 or 2 or 3 with the ball last possession is a guaranteed loss, never pull these out, and I truly mean NEVER! Tonight was another road game against a desperate team and another loss. The first few maac games of the year I thought Iona offensively had turned the corner and was going to be tough to stop the rest of the year, but when your point guard plays as bad as McGill did tonight you can’t win. Also don’t know why Crawford didn’t get the ball the last 5 minutes. Some other comments. How many techs is this team going to get, Agee again, and his grab of the Marist guys leg in the first half was just terrible and stupid. Hudson shows effort on d but almost every shot he has taken has been not even close, too bad offensively to play division 1. Leaning towards 11-7 and third but we can finish anywhere from 2nd to sixth. Despite the bad feelings after another disappointing loss the maac is still terrible and winning 3 games in March with Cluess is still a realistic possibility, just have to play average d for three games, hit a decent % of threes, and the good McGill shows up, and Crawford plays well as you would expect. Watched the game, been following Iona since I don’t know when but when you have refs that don’t give the same calls that can play a big part in the game. How many times did we get fouled and no call? Just saying yes we played bad but you should really look into that Yes I do plan on spending the weekend doing my own personal investigation into why the refs didnt call fouls when we were fouled, my pre investigation opinion is Maac refs suck, but by the time the super bowl ends I’m hoping to get confirmation on that. Maybe I’ll also discover a Maac ref was responsible for the no call in the saints game.

These guys can be frustrating, but I'm not giving up on them. If anyone can improve this team - we got him. TC will work this team and will get the most out of these guys when it really counts. Things may look a bit bleak now, but I will not be surprised if Iona cuts down the nets for the 4th time in a row in March.
Go Gaels!!!

I don’t think you was watching I admit they sucked, the maac refs usually suck, but they also made bad calls both ways as they usually do. I guess your a fan of McGill and I like McGill, but fouls or not he didn’t have his best game tonight. When he plays well Iona usually wins and I’m hoping that is what we see in Albany in March. In his defense it’s not easy to be a point guard when you really not sure what your going to get out of your teammates each night. He has struggled at times this year with that uncertainty. I expect him and the Gaels to bounce back Saturday.

We have a coach who hasn't lost a MAAC tourney game in 3 years. Statistically we have BY FAR the best offense in the league. D improves a little and Dayton here we come.

McGill A/TO ratio in MAAC games.
5 wins 28/16 4 losses 17/19
He is averaging 4 turnovers in MAAC games, including 19 the last 3 games.

I think the D and rebounding need to improve substantially. Also, concerned that Nic never played and I don't believe Still was even on the bench. We will need some contribution from both of these players as Hudson looks lost out there. The one thing that concerns me about our long shot MAAC title this year is that the other teams will not be fearful of us. Yes, TC has had done magical things in March but we simply don't have the talent as in years past, which was clearly an intimidating factor.

Another great game. Good effort by the guys. Can't win 'em all. Sarcasm? No thanks. Gregcrow already had some

FWIW,here’s my take at the 1/2 way point as we sit 5-4 in league play, which at this point is what matters.Ill start with the Negatives 1-We are and will be short handed the rest of the year. 2-We are really struggling on the road to say the least. 3-we are not the normal 3- point shooting team of past years 4-We struggle defensively, especially defending the 3 5-Our BB IQ is at times baffling!
As a optimistic person, here are the positives. 1-The MAAC is really down, its anyone’s tournament. 2-Mc Gilland Crawford bring successful tourney experience,we go as far as these 2 take us 3We beat Rider the favorite at the tourney, until proven different Baggett and his players have won nothing, their foul shooting % one of the worst in the country. 4-We are 3 time champs until someone beats us the 1st week of March 5-Cluess teams get better the 2 nd half of the year, hoping this pattern continues 6-We simply arentt as talented as TC teams in the past
I feel we will protect our home court and win the next 3 games here,IF I’m correct 8-4 looks a lot better than 5-4 obviously. We need improvement the next 9 games and maybe a couple of breaks, but in this down year we still have as good a shot as anyone to win the title,at that point I could care less who or where we play,it would be a nice thing to discuss

Reminds me of the 2012-13 season except with less talent. We couldn't buy a win on the road that season (think we only had 2 or 3 conf road wins) and we were always a few late plays away from winning those games. This season same thing so far. In the Monmouth game it was a lack of a defensive stop, last night it was a missed 3 by Gist, and so on.
Hopefully we can get it together like that team did by the time the conf tourney rolls around.

Well the way I see it, we just lost to team with a guy wearing a scrunchie. Who do you think we'll play in the first round of the NCAA tournament? A guy wearing glitter nail polish?

When, at the end or near the end of the game, when Gist missed the "go ahead" three, it looked like he was knocked down. No call. But that's to be expected in an away game. And from a Thursday-Saturday game.
After watching the game, I really needed a laugh and reading this thread, especially before the start of the game helped. And of all the terrible plays on defense, one, for me, stands out. Agee is guarding the Marist center who has the ball just inside the foul line. And instead of pressuring the Marist player Agee drops back under the basket giving up an uncontested 10 foot jump shot. Two points for Marist.
