Guess I should have given you our Bench players returning also. Coming off the bench and possible starters: G/F Dago Pena- 2010 CUSA 6th man of the year. Deadeye 3 point shooter. SG Shaquille "Shaq" Johnson- Was a starter up until last year. Came off the bench last season and played better ball. F Eladio Espinosa- Transfer from USF. Will sit the season out as a medical RS, Sprained and seperated shoulder last Dec in practice. G Justin Howe- Only walk on left from last year, will only play in mop up duty. I don't usually follow anyone but Marshall and CUSA schools but I seen an Iona game early last year, your 81-77 win against Richmond and was impressed. I couldn't watch you play most of last year but when checking scores I usually looked for Iona's score. Thanks for the info. We lost two key contributors from last year's team, but return our top scorers. Scott Machado our PG was second in the nation in assists. He and forward Mike Glover were mid-major all americans according to a couple of services. We return Machado, Glover who averaged a double-double, and some VG outside shooters in Kyle Smyth, Jermel Jenkins, and Sean Armand. We have a couple of JUCO transfers coming in to help on the front line, and Arizona PG MoMo Jones transferred in. He may or may not be eligible in the fall.

Geez, that's a hefty price for a mid-major to be shelling out. If this is what getting home games for a mid major is turning into, I don't think it's a good thing.

Thanks everyone, and it should be a great tournament. I also like to say that WSU gave UCONN the jump start to winning the National Championship. Thats about the best thing I say to stay positive about losing that game. We did that all year though, play top teams close and lose it in the end. We did the same thing with SDSU.

ESPN's Andy Katz says Iona to play Tulane in the Garden and may have a game at Arkansas.

Same Katz piece also has us hosting LIU, the preseason NEC favorite.

ESPN's Andy Katz says Iona to play Tulane in the Garden... Sorry, I can't get excited with this as I'd rather see a BCS opponent for an MSG game.

Cjb, maybe you can't get excited, but, imo, this is much better than MEAC or NEC. And from a recruiting point of view, assuming there's a return game, visiting NO is not too shabby. It also shows me that this staff is willing to "go the extra mile", in order to complete their schedule. Of course we all would like to play BCS schools. And naturally at home.

It shows how difficult it is to get a name, high RPI, team to play us even at the Garden where some BCS shools would actually have an edge in fan base. They are running scared.

I agree. Any time you can play someone in the Garden nowadays, it's a good thing. CJB is stuck in the 70s and 80s. Those days are long gone. :-)
Also, Tulane is a member of Conf USA, last year's 8th ranked conference. Tulane itself did not have a good season, but who knows, maybe they're expected to be pretty good this time around.
