I predicted October 14 a ways back. I'll stick with that.

The question is how did LaSalle get such a prompt response on their waiver request which virtually mirrors the basis for Iona's request regarding Momo?

Mr. Doom, we really don't know when La Salle filed their claim.

I agree , we don't know when they filed. However, we do know Galloway was enrolled at South Carolina and did not make a verbal to LaSalle until April. I would presume that he completed his sophmore year at SC. I would also presume that LaSalle could not have filed a waiver until Galloway was enrolled at LaSalle which would seem to mean sometime in early June. His waiver was announced by LaSalle August 3rd. If my assumptions are correct, his entire waiver process would have been 2 months. It certainly seems that Momo's waiver process has greatly exceeded that time frame.

Is it possible that maybe this committee (whoever they are) may have a full docket of these cases?
I'm only asking because I really don't know and the length of time seems almost beyond ridiculous.
Besides the LaSalle kid, has anyone else seen or heard of any other rulings of this nature by the ncaa?

After my earlier post I noticed something that caused me to do some more digging. As I said, LaSalle announced Galloway's waiver had been granted on August 3rd. What I hadn't noticed was that LaSalle was beginning a Canadian exhibition tour 4 days later. It turns out that LaSalle expedited their request and asked that the NCAA do the same with their response in order to allow Galloway to play on that trip - the NCAA cooperated and he was allowed to compete. Since Iona was under no such constraints regarding timeframes, it may very well be, as ic59 alluded to in his post, that our waiver request was submitted at a later date and that there actually is no unreasonable delay taking place. It actually is somewhat reassuring to me that the NCAA did take the extra step to accelerate their decision regarding Galloway due to the scheduling concerns. I, along with everyone else, would like this resolved in a timely manner. However, if the NCAA acted responsibly in the LaSalle matter, I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt in our case. As I have stated previously, with or without Momo, this is going to be one of Iona's greatest years in recent memory - HANG ON FOR ONE HELL OF A RIDE!

The NCAA has just ruled on Larry Bird's transfer waiver request from Indiana to Indiana St. Unfortunately they denied it.

Is momo that much of a step up from Rashaad James and the other players he'd be taking time from?
We don't need the waiver.

For whatever it's worth in New York City Buckets in the Keeping Up the MAAC link @ Sep 24 article, "Iona is awaiting a hardship ruling by the NCAA on Jones that would allow him to play this coming season. The thought here is that Jones won't get early eligibility and won't be allowed to play games for the Gaels until next season. But, one never knows."

At this rate they may not rule upon this request until the season is over.
