Is momo that much of a step up from Rashaad James and the other players he'd be taking time from? We don't need the waiver. Let it be duly noted; that on this day, the 29th of September, the year 2011; "The Authority has spoken"

I have not seen Rashaad James play, so I can't compare, but MoMo is a big step up from anyone else they have. Just my opinion.

I truly would be fine either way re MoMo. I like the idea of handing him the keys in 2012-13 after Machado's cut down the nets.

I agree with Guy here. As I've stated previously, with or without Momo, we will have a hell of a team this season. As to what Momo would add to this team (IMO) is not as much about his performance on the floor as it is about his experience. Let's all recognize that if Momo is eligible, he will once again be changing his position. At Arizona, he was the point - with this years Gaels, he will transition back to his high school spot of the off guard. The one thing that Momo would add to this team that no one else can is experience. He has played and won on the big stage. He has NCAA Tourney experience that no one on this team has ever known. On the other hand, should he not gain the waiver, it will be a seamless transition for Scott to hand over the keys to Momo after this season is done. Either way, Iona is in good hands looking forward.

I, like Guy, would be happy either way. I think for the long term prospects of Iona basketball, Mo-mo sitting out may be good, although part of me doubts he will stay here 3 years.
I think the two biggest benefits of him playing this year is he gives us much needed post season success experience and secondly he will bring lots of publicity for at least the beginning of the year, you could see Iona get top 25 votes if he is eligible.
I also think IChoops has a point, I know MoMo is good but is having him get playing time over Jenkins or Armand that much of an upgrade? You could even argue he could hurt team chemistry.
I feel like Iona will be real good either way but having Mo-Mo in November and March is where it would be most beneficial.
On a side note I had to refresh about 10 times just to post this message, I am continuing to have big issues at work with this site.
Note/edited-I posted this before reading Mr. Doom's similar post.

I hope he gets it this year so he has the opportunity to play with Glove and Scott.
That to Iona fans could be a real thing of beauty and perhaps rank as one of the most talented teams in the history of the program.

I agree, without Momo Iona is still capable of having a good season with the possibility of making some noise in the big dance. With Momo I think Iona can do damage in March, so I am one hoping he gets his waiver and plays this year! I rather mortgage a bit of the future for the opportunity to see Machado, Glover and Jones on the court in the present; it's just not that often the Gaels get the chance to suit up 3 guys of this caliber at the same time.

I agree with everybody. I am happy either way, but..... I am convinced Momo is a game changer - gives us a real chance to raise some hell in the NCAA's.

We're loaded at the 2 spot, which is MoMo's natural spot, so I agree either this year or next is fine. I think next is actually better. In either case, I think what he brings is a swagger and confidence of being successful in the NCAA tourney that we haven't had before. That'll help whether he's playing or just practicing and hanging with the team.

Just remember there's always a chance that if the waiver is denied, MoMo could look to Europe in order to make some money.

Yeah IC59, that has been in the back of my mind; if he doesn't get the waiver I wouldn't rule out him never suiting up for Iona.

So we're calling the kid a liar now? I thought he was here because he wanted to be near his sick grandma. Now you guys got him going to Europe?
