From what I understand this Northwood is pretty good. Lost to Maryland by five the other day.

Hofstra beats LIU by 18, 89-71.
Stoneybrook loses at Indiana by 30.
Fordham plays at Syracuse today.

Tonights St Francis vs. Seton Hall game just reminds me we should be glad Willard left. He is an offensively challenged coach. St Francis should have won that game.

One concern I have is the alumni force Lyons to fire Willard and he tries to hire Cluess. But I think Willard will get another year. I don't think Willard is good enough of a coach to win at Seton Hall.

Fodham gets the obligatory pummelling at Syracuse, 78-53. Watched some of the game. The Orange played well on defense, struggled on offense. The Rams just struggeld.

I watched that game on SNY, I came away most impressed with Glover. Gatson, Fordham's stud forward, was real quiet especially in the first half, scoring only 4 points and being rejected a couple of times. Made me recall Boeheim's post game comments against Iona when he said he's not sure anyone can stop Glover!

Agree Ghost; was kind of thinking the same thing about how well Glover played against them. 25 and 18 as I recall. And how well we were able to get the ball to him on the baseline. Fordham does have a couple of promising young guards. I liked the McMillan kid and Smith. They also rebounded pretty well, but shot poorly overall and really couldn't penetrate the zone. Didn't watch the whole thing, just a fair amount of the first half.

Couple of things, and JMO: *Joebird, no worry about TC moving to SHU. He's a LI guy, and it's possible that he'd take the Hofstra job at some point, but nothing imminent there. He'll probably be a top candidate for St. John's when Lavin leaves, and that could be in a year or so. So enjoy the ride, and we'll have Jarred (hopefully) waiting in the wings. *How about the Britt Bomber. Ben played 40 minutes and scored 13 points with four rebounds. I think he'll do well in the NEC. *My guy (and the Oldtimer's guy) Brian Voelkel continues to play well. In a two point road loss to South Florida, from the Big East, Brian only had two points, he took two shots, but added 11 rebounds and eight assists. *Dawg's Providence team doesn't impress, defeating FDU at home by 11 points. *Still can't get over Mookie Jones, former Peekskill star. Despite Syracuse squeaking by Fordham by 25, Mookie only got five minutes of PT, and I believe two points. At a lower level school he would have done so much better. Sad. *If Iona Women are going to continue to host a tourney and invite 'name' schools, they have to get better support from the College. I saw some great Women's BB on Friday and Saturday, but it was embarassing to tell MSU and Nova fans that there was NO snack bar available on either day, and please don't ask me about the trophy presentation. Also, very poor student support. *An Iona fan who stayed after the Women's game on Friday and was allowed to watch the Men practice, tells me that he was very impressed by MoMo. *Iona is saying that the Purdue game starts at 1PM. My FIOS schedule shows the Temple Western Michigan game starting at 10AM and the Iona game at 12:30PM. Of course my FIOS schedule is often wrong. *Another game that will probably be tougher than we thought, is the St. Joseph's game. The Hawks opened with an impressive road win at Western Kentucky.
It's going to be an exciting season.
