There are many other factors that will be the deciding factor...Money is probably the biggest factor, but may not be the deciding one...My guess is that Cluess is probably in his mid 50s, which can enter into to equation...I know not his mind set, but I would give serious consideration to family, and possible disruption of life style...
I personally retired at age 59...I had many offers, but I decided at a part time position as a compromise...It gave me time for family and golf.....No regrets...........................

I hope that grasso would continue to keep the wins coming...however , more often then not , the successful coach leaves and so do the wins....(cooley leaves Fairfield and they fell apart) Valvano left and Kennedy kept winning, Welsh left and Ruland kept winning. Willard left and we won more! The important thing is to keep Iona a revelent destination for coaches with higher aspirations, and we'll be fine. As for Cluess I've always believed and still believe he'll leave when St. John's opens up and that is probably near happening. Quite honestly the guy I'll miss is Grasso when he leaves, his recruiting is way above the norm! WOW! Including Willard in the same paragraph with Valvano, Kennedy, Welch, and Ruland!!! I agree with Husker. Let's end this.

I agree with Husker. Let's end this. Come on Super, Willard I believe was leading at halftime of one of his Maac tournament games, that alone made him deserve a Big East job! Also I felt he had some unique strengths, I use to study loop tapes of his Iona teams playing offense and within minutes I would be a sleep, no one was stronger at helping cure my insomnia!

Iona05, this is exactly what I was trying to avoid when I said "have no fear Iona fans", on the games of interest thread. And what I was talking about was that it was SJU that couldn't afford to buy out Lavin. He has two more years after this one. Their new phlosophy is such that they they would be looking for a proven recruiter on the high major level. My only point was that I was just wondering what Cluess could do with our roster. Don't worry, it's definately not happening.

Absolutely Hynes needs to be upgraded. It looks like crap on TV and if I'm the coach of Quinny, Monmouth, Fairfield, Siena, etc. first thing I'm telling a recruit is that a D1 player should play in a D1 facility and not a high school gym. Hopefully we can figure out a way to get 360 degree seating at the current facility and I think that would make a big difference. "Bit coach, they won a conference championship and went to the dance playing in that gym"

I certainly hope so. Either the CBI or CIT.

tau, no I didn't, just having a little fun with you. And it now looks like Fordham is on their way to a .500 season. So Tom Pecora will get credit for turning around such a woeful program and move on to SJU.
