We're not gonna play great every game. FF has good size and plays tough D. Lets grind one out here.

Very nice road win when the 3's weren't falling. Nice balanced scoring but would love to see Isaiah more involved. Liked Poole's game except for the early 3 point attempt. Improved focus and defense in the second half. Don't understand what the Gaels are learning by sitting on a 22 point lead and letting Fairfield cut the final margin.

Man Laury is the second coming of Dwight Howard from the line. 7-16. Yikes. Press conference with Cluess and St Louis, very unhappy with assist total.

Still need to learn how to finish teams off. We just don't have that killer instinct yet. That being said we won a game that we were suppose to and except for a brief period in the first half I never felt we were in danger of losing this one

Seems to have hurt his confidence a bit. He just needs to relax at the line. They will fall.

They hit a couple of threes. Keep calm and follow Iona.

Glad that we could win a game despite poor 3-point and free throw shooting. Given those circumstances we could probably still win against the majority of MAAC teams, but I hope we improve in both areas for our upcoming OOC games.

Nice road win. Armand really has developed his game.
Whoever told Laury to stop moving his feet on the foul line made a big mistake. I noticed last year when he shuffled his feet he made his free throws, someone thought this was a bad habit and stopped him, now he is a horrible foul shooter. Sometimes bad habits work for certain kids, let him go back to his little pre free throw dance ritual.
Today again we witnessed the maac trying to take on the nfl, dumb, dumb, dumb, why!!!
Interesting game coming up on Saturday.

Clearly weren't at our best today but still a double digit road conference win. I'm sure we'd all sign for that any day of the week. My observations from the game:
1. Hard to imagine but Armand is actually getting better (and smarter) game after game. Today's stat line shows just how much the kid has improved over the years; 28 points on 1-4 from three point with 7 ast and 5 boards. Won't find too many people here (myself included) who would have ever matched Armand up with a stat line like that a few years ago.
2. DL3 foul shooting will come back to haunt us at some point this season if it doesn't improve. If today's game was against Manhattan, Quinny, Rider or Canisius his free throw shooting would have been the difference between winning and losing. One more comment on DL3 -- that isolation spin move at the top of the key that he puts on defenders when he has a mismatch is becoming a bit too predictable and is leading to off balanced shots. Might want to rethink that move.
3. Each game it's becoming more evident that Sledge is a role player on this team, nothing more and nothing less. From the little I've seen so far this year it doesn't seem like his game has evolved much from last year, although probably best to give it some more time before judging since he's still not 100% healthy.
4. Love Isaiah Williams' length on defense, but still seeing too many mental lapses. Luckily his size advantage usually helps him compensate, but still would like to see him not take any plays off.
5. We got beat up on the glass giving up 12 offensive rebounds. Luckily Fairfield missed a lot of bunnies otherwise this game would have been a lot closer than it was.
6. Think Fairfield will be OK by end of season. They have good length and the young guards will only get better. Expect them to finish somewhere in the 6-8 range in the conference.
7. Take away two of Poole's shots and he had the perfect stat line for us today -- ideally he'd be somewhere in the 6-8 point range on 5-6 shots or so with 5 ast and 5 reb each game with good defensive intensity, and I think that's the perfect role for him.
8. Good to see Ellis and Robinson get meaningful minutes again. The fact that Ellis would be a starter on this Fairfield team speaks volumes of our depth. As for Robinson, seems like he's getting slightly more comfortable out there each game, although still seems like he's light years away from being a significant contributor this season.
9. Thought the officiating was terrible today. AJ got called for some ridiculous carries that I didn't agree with and overall thought they called the game way too sensitively on both ends.
10. After one weekend of MAAC play, looks like things are holding true to form with Iona, Manhattan, Quinny, Rider and Canisius being the cream. Only small change in my mind is that I think we are starting to become the consensus favorite with Manhattan in a close second, but we all know paper champions mean nothing.
Tricky OOC game against the Bonnies next weekend. Go Gaels!!!

Interesting game coming up on Saturday. Armand was great today. He really impressed me with his unselfish play in the first half with the terrific assists. He very quietly scored close to 30 points and he was effective on the boards. For DL, the free throw shooting looks to me to be more mental than anything else. The form looks pretty similar to last season but he seems to be trying to mentally "will" the shot in. Hopefully he can shoot his way through this because if he is making less tha 50% from the line, our defense is not quite good enough to withstand a close game scenario, where the opponent plays "hack a shaq". Just my opinion.

Nice to get this game out of the way early and with a W. We've struggled in that place the last couple of years.
