DL can't make free throws because he shoots off the palm of his hands. Has no finger spread at all on the ball which is frustrating to think that no coaches have told him this already. Could make a big difference.

Didn't get a chance to see the game. Is there any update on Hines status? At the Marist broadcast it appeared he would be bsck today. Any further prognosis.

Whoever told Laury to stop moving his feet on the foul line made a big mistake. I noticed last year when he shuffled his feet he made his free throws, someone thought this was a bad habit and stopped him, now he is a horrible foul shooter. Sometimes bad habits work for certain kids, let him go back to his little pre free throw dance ritual. Last years team shot FT at 78% which I believe was top 5 in the nation. Most of that was Momo, but Tre Bowman and Sean Armand contributed big. DL3 shot FT at 65% last year, not great, but a hell of a lot better than the 49% pace he's on now. 75% as a team would be a very good goal to reach, the team is currently at 68%. Agree with Joebird, DL3 needs to ditch his current approach. Was at today's game and thought the team looked schizophrenic, world beaters the first and last five minutes of the first half and anemic the middle ten minutes. The second half was less drastic as this team seems to have the ability to turn it on and off at will. Gotta be happy with a conference win on the road, though TC didn't look real pleased as he walked off quickly to the locker room immediately after handshakes. We'll need to be better for the Bonnies.

As I posted in the chat room during the game, the 1st 4 mins and last 4 mins of the 1st half was great. In between we looked like a CYO rec league team. Also, I mentioned I thought our sloppy play at the end of the game was due to tired legs. Thought TC did a great job with the subs in the first half and I was a bit disappointed that minutes were not distributed to more players in the second half (ie. Thought Gomez, Ellis, and Robinson helped with solid mins in the 1st half). Overall happy with the effort and feel TC has done a nice job in our last 3 games.

Couldn't go, watch or listen to the game. But in looking at the boxscore, imo, we would have won by about 20 points, if: *DL hit a better percentage of his freethrows. *We shot the three ball, like we usually do.
I'm not sure but I think it's possible that our poor o/s shooting was due to playing in such a big facility, and having next to no fans in attendance. I think that makes a difference.

Ref. D.L.........A little story from many years ago that relates...................
Mel Ott was a 17-18 year old youth when he arrived with the old New York Giants...John McGraw a wonderful manager but a abrasive man who ran a iron ship... It was spring training...Mel Ott a left hand batter had a habit of raising his right leg high off the ground as he swung...A few days into training McGraw observed 2 of his coaches working with Ott trying to correct the leg raising habit...McGraw called the coaches into his office and stated in gruff manner ''If I ever see you again trying to change that kid, you are fired''
Mel Ott went on to a career hitting 511 home runs and becoming a baseball all time star...The leg kick remained......

Like the Marist game, it appeared to me that Iona toyed with The Stags as they worked on stuff. Of course, the most obvious "stuff" in progress is AJ at the point.
I felt that AJ made his decision in this game as soon as he hit mid-court. He is an aggressive and creative player, and you got to love it. In this game, I though AJ called his own number a little too much. When he works through that, he and Sean are unstoppable. AJ’s aggressiveness and shooting ability is beginning to open up lanes for Sean.
Amongst the stuff we are working on, I hope rebounding and FT’s are high on the agenda.
