Need to find a way to raise a few million for an upgrade of Hynes. We don't need a new facility, just an upgrade with 360 degree seating, better sound and scoreboard, and we will be set. Bingo! It has to be on campus ! The city of new Rochelle is being too difficult......why can't we just put together a 3,500 seat round arena with seats instead of bleachers....it really is time to step it up....do not leave the campus....at the very least , get rid of the bleachers in favor of actual seats

Sledge presents a problem for Iona...He is a fine player that many Div. 1 schools would love to have...But he appears at Iona to be the square block that does not fit into the round hole...The Gails are height disadvantaged enough without the use of a 5-9 guard who is not particularly a offensive threat...I feel that other players subconsiously sense this and it impairs their play...I don't feel this is a personal or a team attitude as I have always admired his play, hustle and deportment......
The blossoming of English gives us a point guard who fills these voids...The team plays better when he is in the game, and team stats prove that big time...The use of Sledge should be constricted accordingly...Offered IMO.........

Best athlete? Probably, but what does that have to do with being a PG? Personally, I feel that if we ever gets confidence in his o/s shot, that he'd make a good OG.

Sledge us the best athlete on the team ..... What are you smoking? Before we dig Tavon's grave, let's remember that he is coming off an injury (or is still injured) that could affect his game. When healthy, he probably is the best athlete on the team (That doesn't mean best basketball player). Let's give him and the coaching staff some time to see how he fits into this team before we write his obituary. Damn, they played one horrible game and all of a sudden they are the worst team in division 1/

Tavon is a fine athlete, but he is still 5'9". That's not his fault , but when he drives on a D1 team they are going to stuff it down his throat. Hence, his role is limited. He is not our point guard of the future. When he is on the floor it is 4 on 5 offensively..

While I do believe that English is now the starting PG lets not forget that Sledge was the starting PG for the last five games of the season ending winning streak that earned Iona the MAAC championship and automatic bid, while averaging 4 assists and 2 steals per game. So he does have a role on this team and is needed. This team is still a work in progress and Sledge is a part of it. No need to bury the kid.

A Bonnie fan yelled out asking our players how it felt to be recruited by a team that plays in a high school gym.....ouch Was sitting right behind that jerk. I responded by pointing out, loudly, in response to his comment about our "gym" that thank God our place wasn't located in Buffalo or Olean. Bonnie's had 300 or 400 fans present and were loud, which I give them credit for, but they had a large bush league contingent who obviously aren't used to winning. They did not represent their school very well. That said, Hynes is a dump with a morgue like feel. There must be a way to turn the court and create wrap around seating. We wouldn't add more than a 1000 seats, but we don't need a lot more seating. The improvement in atmosphere alone would be worth it.

Sledge seems like a great kid who plays hard, but he's offensively challenged, and lost his man on almost every possession on D against the Bonnie's.

He is not our point guard of the future. When he is on the floor it is 4 on 5 offensively.. This is an offense that plays 3 vs 5. The put 2 guards in the corners after the little dribbling hand off show and that is where they stay. Then sean,dl and aj take on the other team.it all starts with the transition by numbers fast break-so basic. IMO IW and TB are being wasted. I think they are better than just spot up shooters, however TC has retired them to the corner like Ray Allen or Shane Battier. By the time they do get a touch which is infrequent they have no feel for the ball and definitely no rhythm. We are very easy to defend with this set. AJ is a 2 guard playing the 1. He passes when other options are gone and is far from a pass first PG. We have many flaws that will be exposed and cause consternation all season if these issues aren't rectified. Personally, I would love to coach this team. I have an open mind and not as stubborn and that attribute gives way to success. Just my thoughts.

This coach is so stubborn that he is now in his fourth season and he has only taken us to the post season three times so far!
