Iona is built to play at a certain speed...Once they vary from that speed they are not the same ball club...It was obvious at the start of the second half they had lost much of their spark and were going to coast to victory...the closer the score comes the more hesitant they become...They then become another team...There is no reason to allow that team to outscore you in the 2nd half by a dozen points expect for the change of pace slow down type of play.....That attitude will cost us some day... Not meant as a negative comment, but as constructive criticism...I was never really worried during the game....just apprehensive... A victory this weekend will give us a 2 game lead over the clear favorite.

"Any conference road win is good"......Agree "regardless of how you get it".....Disagree. Big time. For reasons mentioned above. This is a marathon not a sprint (cliché). We could have won this game and played the bench. One last thought. Could coach have gone with the short bench partially because he knew his next game wasn't until Friday night? Hard to tell who is in the dog house. Sledge played very little vs q'pac and Ellis I never anticpate him playing. The only bench player I have questions about right now is Hines.

Sledge must be hurt, I think Cluess knows his top 6 players are so much better than the rest of the team, it is hard to use more of his bench. The top 6 Gaels are arguably all among the top 25 players in the league.

In TC we trust!
While a number of us have been critical of the lack of player substitutions in the 2nd half today, we must realize that Coach Cluess knows best and will make adjustments as necessary.
I for one have been very pleased with the coaching staff and the work they have done.
Absolutely love the smaller starting line up snd hope it sticks. If we can get to the first media timeout without DL it does two things:
1) Forces the rest of the players to step up their aggressiveness and rebounding as we start the game with no true big man.
2) Shortens the game a bit and allows DL to come in, not fear getting in immediate foul trouble and that extra time off could lead to fresher legs at the end of the game.
Go Gaels!

Geez surprised to hear so many negative comments about today's performance. We got a road conference win in a place that hasn't been kind to us in recent years, held on to a lead to pull out the late win, moved into a two way tie for first place, are playing are best basketball all season, and currently have the best record we've had since the beginning of the season. Let's just be happy and loom forward to the big game on Friday without too much nitpicking. Agree...good post

really good first half, uptempo and good ball movement spu slowed the pace in the 2nd half don't think we ran out of gas don't think sledge is hurt, he wouldn't have played the last minute friday, and he was trying to dunk during warmups to win friday we will need 8 guys or the jaspers will wear us down

Coaches decision and the need for more players vs Manhattan. How was the crowd?

You will note that the crowd was 370 - 371 with the janitor. You're welcome!
