Line remains at 6.5 for the game tonight. [/quote] Just had a drop to 5 1/2.............The betting world sure is aware of Iona's reputation for scoring and being scored upon...Today's over and under again is by far the highest shown...157 1/2... Its been quite a while but if my memory is still O.K.........It is only a short ride of about 3 miles after exiting Rte, 105 off Garden State Parkway......I remember from out frequent visits to the Monmouth Race Track and nearby Golf Course......

I say the key to tonight's game will be how well Mike Poole plays. Rather, I should say how well he shoots, as I'm confident in the rest of his game. DL should continue coming off the bench and I feel he'll have another strong game. But just like I knew nothing about "Q", I know less about Monmouth. They have four good guards, and while "Q" got a lot of scoring from their front court, Monmouth gets the bulk of their points from their guards. Let's hope this game turns out better than the first "Q" game.

WOW! Tre Bowman is the latest injury but apparently he's suited up and available to play defense if needed. Coach says "day to day" in pre-game interview. GO GAELS!

Iona needs Tre back. The offense flows a lot better with him in the game. Hope he gets well soon, we'll definitely need him for the Griffs

WOW! Tre Bowman is the latest injury but apparently he's suited up and available to play defense if needed. Coach says "day to day" in pre-game interview. GO GAELS! Every road win is a good win, so I'll take it despite late sloppy play. As for Tre, Cluess was about to say just how long he will be out and he caught himself and switched it to day to day, couldn't tell if it will be a short injury ( shoulder) or a long one but It sounded like one or the other, don't forget Robinson was day to day. They need Bowman to win both regular season and tourney. Other game comments, amazing they won so easily despite English being so off. Laury played very well again especially the first 30 minutes. Armand was on fire for a stretch there from 3, love to see that as he can steal a game somewhere down the stretch if he can take over a game from 3. Nice to see both sledge and Gomez get minutes, and I think Ellis even got a few before being quickly pulled for a likely missed assignment. This team is showing me the promise I thought I saw early in the year ( after g mason and gulf coast) , where I thought they had the potential to be Cluess's best team. I now see that again, they are not there yet but they can be that good. Super and Oldtimer are now likely right in that if this team makes the tourney they likely will be a 15 or possible 14( not 16), Iona's RPI after tonight is all the way up to 94. "March to the Garden "!

Missed the whole game due to this annoying need of mine to earn a living. What happened to Bowman? Practice injury? Do we have a strength and conditioning coach? Geez first the Packers ...
Amazing that our RPI is top 100. If Mason would win an A-10 game or two, that would help. Hard to fathom how bad they are.
Sounds like Laury played well again - good for him. Different guys every night; everyone contributes.

Didn't have our best stuff tonight, but still pulled out a double digit road victory without one of our best offensive weapons in the lineup. I'll take that any day. Some observations from the game:
1. DL3 back in top form. When he's on his game we are on a completely different level and are a tough out for anyone in the conference even on their best night.
2. Awful night for AJ. Hopefully he got his down games out of his system over the past two games, as we'll clearly need him to step up for the Buffalo trip.
3. Sean put on a total show early in the 2nd half and basically sealed the game for us, but he's gotta be smarter than to pick up ticky tack fouls early in the game.
4. Poole didn't have his best shooting night, but continues to be a high intensity guy especially when crashing the boards.
5. Cluess must be going nuts over the carelessness and sloppy mistakes at the end of the game.
6. Nice to see Gomez get the start tonight. The guy misses some defensive assignments but really is a guarantee on the offensive end, with minimal turnovers and very good decision making ability.
7. Any updates on Bowman? Assuming he'll be at full strength for the Buffalo trip?
8. Isaiah Williams with another strong performance. Even though he makes some mistakes and errant passes you gotta give him a pass since he more than makes up for it with hustle and aggressiveness on both ends of the floor.
9. Hard to imagine that we shot 54% from the field and 32% from 3. Felt like we shot closer to 10% less in each category, but I guess the numbers were skewed by Sean and DL3's big performances from 3 and 2 pt range respectively. In fact if you back Sean out, then we shot just 4 of 23 (16%) from 3 pt range. Ouch.
10. Coaching staff did a nice job game planning for tonight and with in-game substitutions, especially given the thin bench. Hats off to them.
Now the dreaded Buffalo trip. 0-2 would be a disaster, 1-1 would keep us in the mix for the conf title for the rest of the way, and 2-0 would put us in the driver's seat. First up Niagara for some revenge from last year's heartbreaker. Go Gaels!!!

Bowman hurt his shooting arms shoulder in practice yesterday which really sucks because if they had played the game there would not have been practice yesterday. Cluess said he could play d in an emergency. Not sure we can count in him this weekend.

Finally I haven't mentioned my Dream slogan of "March to the Garden" not because I have given up but because it looks like Syracuse will be the 1 seed at the garden which means they will be in the Garden with 8/9 and 4-13, 5-12, seeds and Iona has no chance to get to a 13. lets just hope we get to that point of thinking about this, but I always am thinking too far ahead with this stuff. Joebird, agreed that it is way too early to have a seeding conversation, but there is still hope for a favorable seed IMO. All depends on how we finish, but our RPI could range anywhere from low 60s (13/14 seed range) to low 100s (definite 15). Still a lot of basketball left to be played, anything can happen.

Iona 05, I always do this too early, I strangely enjoy it. Also realized my entire Syracuse thinking makes no sense, so I edited my post, Gaels can still be put in garden pod.

Great road win--possible letdown after Manhattan/Guerin event! 05-did not mention Sledge contributions: 1-1 fg; 2-2 ft; 2 assists; 1 to in 15 minutes.
Laury on a tear in last 2 games.
From ESPN site: "Armand scored 22 points and David Laury added 21 as Iona's high-powered offense fueled an 89-71 victory over Monmouth on Tuesday.
Iona ranks 12th in the nation in points per game (83.2) and has now scored over 80 points 14 times this season. Isaiah Williams added 17 points and seven rebounds for Iona (13-8, 10-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Armand made 8 of 10 shots, including 6 of 8 from 3-point range, and Laury made nine of his 10 field goals and grabbed 12 rebounds in 37 minutes for the Gaels. A.J. English had 14 points, but was just 1 of 10 from 3-point range."

Iona D solid for third straight game. Yes, and this is the main reason my big dream hopes has returned for this team.
