I think we have four players that will make a positive impression on RP with their ability and IQ. Whether they are better than the newcomers at the same positions is yet to be determined. I'm pretty confident the blend will work well if we actually have a BB season. I got 4 brown brown can eyck and iw Gist, Van Eyck, IW and Ross

We should just count the Browns as Pitino newcomers, since they've never suited up for us and in essence had to be re-recruited to stay. And obviously the release from Iona supports that logic.
So, we really don't know what we have with any of the 8 newcomers. As I've said, if 4-5 turn into really good players, we're going to be in great shape.
I think Jelly and Gist will both start. Van Eyck and Ross could as well, but I won't be shocked if they don't.
One thing to remember, as this is a big difference from the Cluess era--our newcomers for the most part haven't played a ton of D1 ball, if at all. Our transfers and JUCOs in the past have been seniors and juniors, now a lot of the new guys are sophs and frosh. Although I think most will have more upside than what we're used to recruiting, they won't have as much experience. This is why I think that, unless the newbies are VERY good, we're going to see the 4 returning regulars get a lot of run, particularly early on.

I think IW, Ross, Gist are fine players. I think the incoming are as well! We have loaded up the front court. Players will challenged to be at their best.

Looking at Pitino's quotes describing each addition, I would guess that while he loves all of them, he is the most excited about Shema and Myers. Something tells me that Myers in particular will be the one to give IW and Gist the most competition for a starting spot. Like everyone else, I haven't seen any of them play so time will tell. I am excited about all of our players, but I would love to see BJL prove he's worthy of a starting spot with all that potential.

I know Iona is over the limit but between the possibility of the new transfer rule starting next season as well as this ruling by the NCAA, lots of talented players will become available for the '20 class by June.

Posted this when I saw his commitment: s aw him play in Ft Myers against Victory Rock Prep, a Sarasota-based "haven" for mostly international players, many from Australia. (Was there to check out a player named Strickland who I believe signed with St Louis.) Much better than average MAAC level. Recall him looking quick and very good from 3.

Don't know what Super's opinion is, but I think that the four players mentioned will make a positive impression on our HC.
