As Guy has said many times, clearly the team reads this board. I saw a post re-shared by EJ this morning (not sure who wrote it but the Instagram handle is omorede_14):
"Gael Nation, our team did not expect all the adversity that we are experiencing. But we are still trying to figure this out. We are in the second half of season. We are looking at it as a new season. Our team has not played well this year but please don't label us as quitters. We are young men trying to figure this out. This is basketball and not cancer. Walk in our shoes and someday you will feel how bad we feel today. We need support not criticism. Go Gaels."
omorede_14 is Omorede Rainey, a team manager. I agree... Let's be supportive and see what they do. Does anyone here really think that the seniors want to go out this way?

Hard to see how Iona covers. At the very least Manhattan will play 11 guys and play pressure defense the entire game. They pressure and double the ball the entire defensive possession. Crawford is still dealing with back issues, don't understand why Arnold played him the last 7 minutes down 30. Not sure why he played IW 39 minutes and Agee could really struggle with turnovers against that pressure.

I’m glad to hear EJ make this statement. He has to be our leader If anyone can make a difference it has to be EJ. His experience in the post season can hopefully can keep us afloat. Additionally, I’m glad to hear they still have faith in the being successful this season.
The team still has my support. I’ll at Hynes on the 16th. Go Gaels.

so that makes 2 of us that don't think benching EJ is the answer

Is it confirmed that EJ actually wrote this? Not trying to deny it, just wondering.
EJ didn't write it, he shared a manager's post as noted above.
Hey, I don't disagree with the sentiment. We don't know what they are going through. And as I have said countless times, while we can all point to individual aspects, ALL of this stems from Tim not being there. Tim not there is the first and biggest reason, and the cause of all the rest. And it's no one's fault he's not there. It's also why I have and will continue to defend Arnold. He moved 2 chairs in like 3 months.
That said, there are indeed chemistry issues out there among certain players. This happens on every team, but it's just not being fixed here, and I think it's the primary thing they are trying to "figure out", as per the manager's post. It's also a difficult thing to label kids quitters. Only they know if they have really quit--even the quoted manager really doesn't know what is going on in the hearts and minds of everyone on the roster. It's also hard for us to watch as fans, because we know what the team is capable of and when instead we watch them get run out of buildings by MAAC level teams it's hard not to say they are quitting.
Honestly I am torn on a few things. I don't know if they are really capable of pulling it together or not. I'll still make as many games as my schedule allows, and I'll still go to AC, although sadly a day earlier than expected it appears. I am also torn on what we are "owed" by the athletic office. I fully agree that it's not our business to know what's going on with Tim, but I also fully agree that you can't ask me for money and then not give me the full truth about the future of the program that I'm donating toward. And I know the donations go to more than hoops, but let's face it, hoops is why we're all here.
We all can play armchair QB and say thing we'd like to see and recruiting we should focus on, but even those from the team and admin reading the board know we're all morons there. That's why I'm surprised anyone associated with the program even paid us any heed anywhere. All I can say is this: the quickest fix the team can make is a 100% application of the defense. The defense was pretty solid early in the year, and that seems to have been lost with the offensive frustrations mounting. Yeah, we have some guys who aren't great defenders, but during the first 10 games or so that wasn't an issue, and we were doing OK on that side of the ball. So, there's MY armchair take: 100% commit to D--that will create turnovers (like we were doing earlier in the year) and that turns into fast break points. Hold teams to under 40% and we'll stay in games while the offense figures out stuff. Defense also travels. IF we can start shutting teams down again, we'll steal a couple wins while the offense is hopefully getting itself together a bit, and MAYBE we can still make some noise in AC. I don't know if we are good enough to defend our title, but no matter what, we should NOT go down without a fight.

We have all watched enough hoops to realize that Man -3.5 seemed light. Point spread disconnects happen in these smaller conferences. I don’t gamble on sports anymore but I know some posters do.
So dramatic. What do you expect the athletic department do?? Or let me put it this way...what were they doing differently the last four years when we were winning that you would like to see them do more of?
Agreed. This post was uncalled for.
What did you see or read in the entire post that was uncalled for? Maybe you don't agree with the premise; maybe you think the team does not need help; maybe you think Coach A is not struggling to lead this group; maybe you think the situation is,as indicated in one of your posts, hopeless. From another of your prior posts, you seem to think the Athletic leadership is knocking it out of the park. And while we are on your prior posts: "Everyone needs to assume some responsibility for this wasted season — players and Arnold included." Everyone means everyone, right? Not just the players, not just Arnold! Give them some Help!
I hope my plea for the obvious need for help is more called for that the "shitcan the whole season" stated in "Top 5 worst season in Iona history IMO." You have quit??
For some perspective on all of this I recall the 94-95 Duke season. Coach K coaches the first 12 games of the season and then went out for back surgery. Pete Gaudet took over and Duke went 4-15 the remainder of the season including 2-13 in the ACC. We’re not Duke and if it could happen to them when they lost a great coach for the season why is anyone surprised that it’s happened to us? By the way Gaudet was the chief Assistant and had previous head coaching experience far more than Arnold. My take on this is that it’s not getting better until Cluess returns.

Very interesting. One of my sons gave me the same analogy two weeks ago. You found the details I could not. Glad you brought the comparison up. Head Coaches are special people...

The season is only half over.
You claim there is a leadership void in the AD and that it is “damaging” the kids. This is a completely unsubstantiated claim and I would ask you what facts you have to support this argument? Claiming that the season is an all-time disappointment and claiming that the AD leadership is broken and damaging the kids are two completely different things.
