Grasso deserves the Iona job. Seamless handover from TC, knows our culture, cares about the program and won’t be someone who uses us as a short term platform to promote his own agenda. Plus if you hire Grasso you know TC will still be involved from behind the scenes and invested in the success of the program.

Would have to buck 2 powerful trustees. Leadership put to the test! "Move the World"

Hire Pitino (probably a 2-3 yr stint) and then have Grasso take over. He would of had 5 years at Bryant to consistently improve their record. I think the Pitino now call will allow us to continue being relevant and for those complaining about an empty Hynes Center, I think the gym would be packed.

Simple choice to me...
An easy argument can be made against Pitino - escort sex scandle, pay-for-play, Louisville having to vacate a national championship and a Final Four year.
No easy argument can be made against Grasso.

If you are looking at the hire through the lens of the MBB program then Pitino is the logical choice.
If you are looking at the hire through the lens of the institution then Grasso is a no brainer.
By my logic if it’s good for the institution it’s good for the MBB program, but not necessarily the other way around.
Thus, Grasso is the no brainer choice.
Hire Jared and let’s go win another MAAC title next year.

For those in the know, if Grasso were to get hired, are there any star players at Bryant that would likely transfer to Iona?

I was simply inquiring as to whether there could be some solid impact players joining the team IF Grasso was to get hired.

We just built a better gym and never filled it over 75% Winning didn't help, no one can be more successful than Cluess over a 9 yr period and we get no publicity or fans If they do it today it will be on the radio the rest of the weekend and then Monday with the weekday hosts Scheduling will get a bump with his connections and we will probably play 5-6 buy games a yr We will get coverage nationally This will help recruiting in a major way, even with all that winning in the past we never saw an upgrade in talent no 3-4 star player ever chose us If he comes and coaches 3 yrs and leaves a good assistant for another 3 yrs that equalls or will be longer than we can hope Grasso would stay, he is a young coach and unlike Cluess has a long career in front of him to climb the ladder

A few questions...
How long is Jared's contract and is there a buyout requirement?
If it's Pitino, does Willard give us a game?
What happens with the Greek national team obligation?

I don't think we can assume if we hire Pitino that Grasso will be waiting in the wings for Pitino to leave. If we don't get Grasso now and in the next year or two he becomes a hot commodity, he's not waiting around for the Iona gig.
