Just finished the game on DVR then read through this thread. The biggest loss of the day was the banning of an enthusiastic poster.

Guy, are you still undefeated in your picks? I'm impressed either way. I was off on this one by about 23 points. Going to give the game prediction thing a break on my end, lol. I got the Princeton game wrong, otherwise I am spot on. So, we're still technically exceeding my expectations, which is why I'm not on the ledge ready to off myself like some of these folks. Nice prognosticating! I was hoping some of these comments were just sarcastic, e.g., the season being over and what not, lol. I suppose it's a bit of prisoner-of-the-moment mentality. Ah, such is sports. I think I was fair in a few of my vents. I wasn't happy with the defense, and I beat that dead horse. I'm sure RP wasn't exactly thrilled with it, either. (I didn't acknowledge that we lost our best defender for most of the game. That was a factor.) Outside of the defense today and the intricacies that go with that issue, there isn't much to not like right now. But, yeah, we're exceeding my expectations thus far, too. I really like this team, and looking forward to the next one. You're only as good as your last game, that's basketball. We'll get it back on track. Hopefully we can stay healthy, especially with #0. Knocking on wood, he's one guy I'd hate to see us lose for any significant stretch.

We need JB's magic elixer. Hoping it's not serious.
Go Gaels!!!

Still a chance for two more wins this weekend, let's do it. Will also be interesting to see if SMU can carry its mojo over to tomorrow versus Utah State.

Any update on the extent of BJL’s injury? Limping noticeably at hotel. Coaches awaiting further evaluation. Oy vey. I recall years ago when a college player was limping badly after a game, and they thought he might be out for the season, the trainer stayed in his room and iced it all night; that particular player played the following day. Fingers crossed it's nothing serious.

Arena totally empty except for about 150 YMCA kids. They are now rooting for the Gaels. Nice place. Super has now been followed the Gaels in all non-contiguous United States. :-) Super, how many states have you traveled to to watch the Gaels? I would guess it is around 30 or so. A liitle nicer in Hawaii tham Alaska during the holidays. There we had about 5 hours of daylight. Wife wanted to go to breakfast when it got light. I told her that would be lunch. Did a little homework while attending the wake at the hotel. I've seen Iona play in 22 states. It could have been 23 except for a blizzard which prevented me from going to Nebraska for the 2nd round NIT game which we lost there in 1983. Coach Pat Kennedy also missed that game as his wife gave birth to their daughter that day.

Spoke briefly with Utah St coach, Ryan Odom, at the hotel. He didn't say it exactly, but it was clear he was both surprised and disapointed about not facing us tomorrow. Ryan is the son of Dave Odom who had a successful run at Wake Forest, retiring from South Carolina. Interesting other coaching tidbit, which I believe was not previously mentioned, was that SMU is coached by former Siena head coach Rob Lanier. The SMU assistant, Cliff Warren, also coached at Siena.

How long before Guy tells everyone to get off the Ledge? How about now? Should mention that I picked us to lose this game. Looks like my forecast is worthy of more praise than was given at the time. Yes but you did say it would be a disappointment if we lost in your latest podcast. So... you were right twice.

I might be delusional, but I feel that this team is going to have a VG year, assuming that BJL isn't seriously injured. Consider: *DJ is a VG PG. *WC is a VG OG. And his FT shooting is off the charts. *Nelly has improved his range and his left hand. Even if his success depends on our game plan. i.e., do we go inside or become more of a perimeter team. *Cruz Davis is further ahead of where I thought he would be. Expect him to win a rookie of the week award or two, even if playing limited minutes. *Ayo hasn't played enough to form an objective opinion. But no doubt he has shown enough athleticism to catch my attention. Not sure if he is a 3 or an under sized 4. *QS is not in game shape, which is not surprising, considering that he just returned from an injury. I don't think that we are doing him any favors by giving him many PT minutes. *BJL's injury was a major reason we lost, today. When healthy he is a game changer. As is.. *Oz Shema was our secret weapon, going into the NM game. I can't understand why his PT was cut back so much. Fingers crossed, he'll play a lot more tomorrow. *These are the eight guys that will make up our rotation. The rest of the team will compete for PT in daily practice sessions. Silas is special and falls into the Development category with an eye on next year. Ryan is experienced and RP likes his 'game'. I do think his PT will go down as the season goes on, but I expect him to be a difference maker in a game or two.
*Bottom line, I feel that the team is moving in the right direction and are better than I thought they were when the season started. Losing the last two games is a big disappointment but I'm definitely in "the glass is half full" category.
