Bottom line: a loss to a bigger-conf team on a neutral floor like 4000 miles from home is not as devastating as you guys are making it out to be. Do you all think Iowa's season's over after being a 30-point fav at HOME and losing? Iowa plays in a conference where they can go .500 and make the tournament. We don’t have that luxury. Also horrible for our seed line IF we can win our conference tournament. For those saying that doesn’t matter have fun with Siena fans when we get bounced by a 1-3 seed. Terrible loss. That being said I’m fickle and if we kill Seattle tmrw I’m back on the train. Go Gaels.

How long before Guy tells everyone to get off the Ledge? How about now? Should mention that I picked us to lose this game. Looks like my forecast is worthy of more praise than was given at the time. You did also say you expect to be wrong about your prediction of the smu game. But why not be joyous that you picked it right after a game that was very meaningful.

Iona is a mid Major who come conference play does not play teams that help seeding or the hopes on an at large while Iowa plays in the Big ten where teams that have had losing conference records and still make at large bids. Iona needs all the help it can get by playing top mid major/ high major teams where an Iowa loss as a 30-point favorite will have minimal effect on there season.

I might be delusional, but I feel that this team is going to have a VG year, assuming that BJL isn't seriously injured. Consider: *DJ is a VG PG. *WC is a VG OG. And his FT shooting is off the charts. *Nelly has improved his range and his left hand. Even if his success depends on our game plan. i.e., do we go inside or become more of a perimeter team. *Cruz Davis is further ahead of where I thought he would be. Expect him to win a rookie of the week award or two, even if playing limited minutes. *Ayo hasn't played enough to form an objective opinion. But no doubt he has shown enough athleticism to catch my attention. Not sure if he is a 3 or an under sized 4. *QS is not in game shape, which is not surprising, considering that he just returned from an injury. I don't think that we are doing him any favors by giving him many PT minutes. *BJL's injury was a major reason we lost, today. When healthy he is a game changer. As is.. *Oz Shema was our secret weapon, going into the NM game. I can't understand why his PT was cut back so much. Fingers crossed, he'll play a lot more tomorrow. *These are the eight guys that will make up our rotation. The rest of the team will compete for PT in daily practice sessions. Silas is special and falls into the Development category with an eye on next year. Ryan is experienced and RP likes his 'game'. I do think his PT will go down as the season goes on, but I expect him to be a difference maker in a game or two. *Bottom line, I feel that the team is moving in the right direction and are better than I thought they were when the season started. Losing the last two games is a big disappointment but I'm definitely in "the glass is half full" category. Sorry. Who is Ryan? Probably too much eggnog!

Super has now been followed the Gaels in all non-contiguous United States. :-) Super, how many states have you traveled to to watch the Gaels? I would guess it is around 30 or so. A liitle nicer in Hawaii tham Alaska during the holidays. There we had about 5 hours of daylight. Wife wanted to go to breakfast when it got light. I told her that would be lunch. Did a little homework while attending the wake at the hotel. I've seen Iona play in 22 states. It could have been 23 except for a blizzard which prevented me from going to Nebraska for the 2nd round NIT game which we lost there in 1983. Coach Pat Kennedy also missed that game as his wife gave birth to their daughter that day. Super, your dedication is appreciated and recognized. Still working, but once retired I hope to join you on these excursions.

Like some of the points Java mentioned. Always a fan but also 24 years as a coach. So now a combination of fan and coach. Let's stop with the criticism and frustrations of going thru some of our losses. Yes all four losses are games we were capable of winning. None of us know what happens within the confines of the practice arena! Lets stop second guessing the staff and criticizing players and rotations etc. We will be fine!! Having the coaching staff we have and the hype that goes with the team has made Iona the team everyone wants to beat. New Mexico-SMU-Santa Clara and Hofstra brought their A plus games and all were single digit losses! We forget the wins and think about the losses. Lets move on!!!1

Fandom in a nutshell. Threads for losses go on for days. Threads for wins are like 3 pages of "good win".

Fandom in a nutshell. Threads for losses go on for days. Threads for wins are like 3 pages of "good win". Very true. I think it's fair to say that's even exaggerated this year because of Pitino. We are expecting Iona to reach levels never seen before. Adding to the "anxiety" is the likelihood it's not a huge window. The Pitino run could last 3 more months, 2 more years or hopefully longer if Pitino/Iona can agree on a deal. Time will tell how all that plays out. For now. Grab 2 wins this weekend. I still believe Iona rolls the MAAC and gets the auto bid.
