Thought Pitino was great in the presser. Loved his comments to the Albany types trying some how to make this about Siena. I didn't get a chance to hear the presser, but he's on the front page of the Mother Ship for saying he wants to coach another 10 or 12 years. Link: www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/35873006/rick-pitino-happy-iona-says-wants-coach-10-more-yearsBiggest thing I took from the article was how he noted that it would take a "special" place to make him depart most of his returning team (DJ, WC, OS, NJJ); I said he'd be crazy to leave this awesome team a few weeks ago, and my opinion hasn't changed. He left his best returning team at KY in '97-'98 only to see Tubby Smith win it all with his group. Could he really stomach watching what he's built (again) from afar whilst starting all over somewhere else next season? I wouldn't think so. Don't hand your stacked team to another coach unless your health or something else forces you to do so. I'm also reminded of Jim Calhoun bequeathing the 2013-14 Huskies (NCAA Champs) to Kevin Ollie (now out of coaching) and Roy Williams retiring and his returning bunch reaching the 2022 title game under Hubert Davis (who missed the Dance this season). If I'm RP, I'm not trading in my diamonds for costume jewelry. Back to business: Furman just knocked off Virginia, one of the two teams (along with Tennessee) I was hoping to see Iona draw instead of UConn. Oh well. As a competitor, you want to play the best, so I think the players will be locked-in and ready for the Huskies. (As a fan, you want the "easier" draw, lol.)

The difference from Kentucky back then is it's now extremely easy for the players to follow the coach. Yeah the other 4 seeds are no where near as good as Uconn.

The NY post has done a story on Pitino, Brown and now Masiello. What about the players? Clayton, Jenkins, Nelly, Shema, BJL all have interesting stories. Doesn't make sense? hopefully we make noise so they have to talk about the players

I have thought the same thing like why would you leave something good you have unless its soooooo green on the other side and even then im like theres no green in queens. Also I saw the Furman game and what I wild ending. I was hoping we drew Virginia or Tennessee too but from the explanation I saw is we were the worst 13 seed so it makes sense we play the best 4 seed. cant help but think it could have been us and id imagine multiple 13s beating 4s is pretty unlikely but not impossible.

I was thinking.. is this the first time someone from the board of the tourney team we are playing didn't come on here and try to converse? I seem to recall that happening just about every NCAA year.

Joe forget the obsession with the Post and coverage. One sure way to make sure we don't get coverage is to keep yelling at these guys and accusing them of being biased. They are human after all. We can't deny the fact that SJ's has more fans in the NY area than we do and that dictates their coverage. I highly doubt they are reading this board. As for tweets I did one this year to Braziller and one to Vaccaro (who I actually like). Both deserved it and it wasn't overkill. No more. What your not realizing, is this is the main coverage Iona can get in the NY media and they hardly give us any, surely not our fair share. What this does is make few New York sports fans aware of Iona basketball, which makes them less likely to watch or attend games. The NY post unfair coverage hurts Iona basketball and Iona University, and costs the school money! No I don’t think they are reading this board.

I usually follow the betting line on the ESPN site, in order to see which way it's moving. But this week it has stayed at Iona +9 all week. And, I'm wondering if that's because everyone is filling out Brackets rather than betting on individual games. Anyone have an opinion?
