We had a thread for 22-33 roster, might have start this one early, since it's likely to take lots of turns. Need a coach and staff named soon. Lots of recruiting ahead
Currently returning for '23
NJJ Shema Sunday Ibine-Ayo Jefferson Clayton Jenkins Davis Brookshire Florence

Just a thought, but maybe we’ll have a decent shot of retaining a good chunk of the roster as they could be realizing Pitino is a fraud just as we are. I imagine a lot of the recruiting conversation was around whether or not he planned to stay at Iona and build a program. And I’m sure his answer was yes. So why follow a guy who consistently lied to your face? Time will tell…

If the Gaels have DJ and Brookshire starting in the backcourt (and as a bonus, have Cruz stay on board, too), they'll be sitting pretty. Hopefully RP doesn't pillage that list and most of them decide to stay. NJJ could probably grab some NIL money at a Power 5 school, but if most of the core returns, I could see him finishing off his career with the Gaels.

NY Post Braziller: Pitino told his returning players at Iona he hopes they stay together and play for whomever is the next coach. I doubt Pitino said that to his players,I have a hard time believing anything after listening to lies and contradictions for 3 years, final straw was he walked into deplorable facilities, the gym was done before he got there!! Slap in the face to the many who worked hard and long to get this done, and another outright lie!!

Correct, I believe the locker room and weight room upgrades were already in progress before he got here as part of a two phased improvement project under Cluess. I think the only facility upgrades that happened because of Pitino were the athletic dept offices, which not so coincidentally included his own office.

I think that Oz will stay. He only has one year left, and I think he at least knows the S and C staff, which in my view is his path for improvement. And he was the ONLY guy who played significant minutes who made the MAAC All ACADEMIC team.

The sooner Iona hires a coach the more likely some guys are to stay. A back court of Jenkins and Brookshire would be huge.
Side note - got in a twitter tiff with Siena fans.. they blame Ionas NCAA losses in why the MAAC is not a 2 bid league. Trying to figure out how that makes any sense lol..

Siena fans rarely make sense. I would expect our vacancy to be filled very, very soon.

I strongly believe if you put brookshire on any other team in the MAAC this past season, he’d be an all league caliber player. He’s a very gifted player on the offensive end that didn’t really get to show it due to lack of playing time.

Maybe I missed something, but I have not seen any Iona players on social media wishing Rick the best. Could be construed as good or bad, I guess.
