Tobin needs to bring the people he can trust to get it done. I really hope he goes after Malcom Pope or some other established AAU coach to open up some doors. Was also hoping he would keep Ricky Johns as he has been the main recruiter. Were really need someone who can recruit other areas such as MD/DC, Florida and Texas.

Not quite the all-star staff to say persuade current players to stay at Iona Do not be so negative. This is a staff that won the NEC conference and beat the Big Ten champion & #1 seed in the Big Dance. They lost in the finals. |

These guys have little to no web of AAU respect or recognition. We better be looking for someone much bigger to add to the staff. It’s not Johns, he was at St John’s today. |

Geez, some of you are a tough crowd. Love these kids, but players are always replaceable. Coaches make the program. Anderson is a perfect hire for us. Let the players make their decisions quickly and then we can focus on rebuilding under one of the best mid major coaches out there right now.

We don’t want NEC players or D2 players…just to be clear. FDU struck gold with those players and I enjoyed every second - but that ain’t working 99% of the time. If these assistants are Xs and Os guys / scout guys, great. However, we need a recruiter of the level of players we are used to… |

Good hire. Credit to Iona’s AD. They knew Pitino was gone probably for a while and zeroed in on a coach. It would’ve taken D’Arg two weeks to get a coach. Thanks, MTS. |

One thing I will say about RP is that this whole debacle has given Iona a lot of attention in the News. I would never have expected ESPN to cover our next coach hiring. That attention is due to the fact that Tobin Anderson captured America’s attention last week defeating #1 seed Perdue has really little to do with Slick Rick. Agree. Anderson has more NCAA Tournament wins than Hall-of-Famer RP the past three seasons. This is about a good of hire Iona could hope to get. I don't care if it was Purdue, beating a No. 1 seed as a No. 16 is still quite an accomplishment. Iona picked the right guy. |
