1970, at first I tended to agree with you. But, now think that we are living in a new recruiting world. Consider: 1. NIL, and I have no idea if this was a factor. 2. Iona's roster. If I were a backcourt player and looked at the Iona roster which features so many young guards, I'd worry about PT.
If I were going to sign early with Iona and knowing that Rupert was graduating, I would have to be a BIG guy. At least that's the way I see it.

If we can't match nil from njit ouch Our leading scorer and minutes man will probably be a guard so same situation as bigs

I'll start by saying that when I attended the practice session, I was VERY impressed by our three frosh guards, along with Winborne and Bundy. So, if Barton had come he would be competing with five guards for PT. Now, if he were a center, he would only have Jacob Hogarth to compete with for the center spot. And, I would think that one of his advisors would point that out.

Winborne literally was there for 5 minutes and got yelled at twice. I like the 3 freshmen, but Wallace will also play the 3. One of them will probably transfer out from not playing enough minutes this year, right Joe? I do like all 3 of them, but remember, liked last years team also, maybe not as much but we thought we were ok. Also no good player says I can't go there, I can't compete with what they have.
Way too much analysis over losing a recruiting battle. But it's been quiet as hell out here, so go for it.
Also, as I've said a few times now, a 2-hour sample isn't enough to be so locked into beliefs. We won't really have a true feel for this team until a couple weeks into the season.

Shrapnel!
Well there’s no question at least one of the 3 freshmen guards won’t return! lol!
I think if you can keep all but one of the juniors and all but 2 of freshmen and sophomores you have done well! Simply impossible to keep more than that!
I've followed Iona BB for more than 70 years and we never (hardly ever) lost more than a handful of players over the years. Times might be changing but I'll wait a few years before I'll write off freshmen that we want to keep.

Well the college basketball world turned upside down in March 23, nothing is the same. If Wallace averages 15 a game he won’t be at Iona in 25-26, probably at Syracuse, and there is nothing Iona can do about that. Yes this sucks!!!

Stopped talking about recruit 2 posts ago, now it's about the 5 minute man making decisions on playing time

JB, remember what goes up must come down. Keep the faith.
