With the 'no rain' weather forecast, I hope to be there even with the 'no scrimmage' forecast. The lure of Iona BB is just too great. The Sirens Song calls, and just hope for better results than all those ships. Stay away from the rocks and you'll be fine. Pretty much like the number one rule of coastal piloting. Read the chart before you head out and mind the tide and currents. bill, thanks. But if they are serving scotch, I'll have trouble staying away from the rocks.

Thinking of possibly heading to the Beechmont before whatever it is that is happening tonight. Anyone interested? Or perhaps you were planning on going and now I have just changed your plans?

greg, it's a great idea, but my Beechmont days are behind me. But I do recommend it for anyone who wants to know the ins and outs about Iona BB.

I can't make it tonight, but I plan on going to beechmont before the first home game in a few weeks. Hopefully we could meet up then.

Been up since 4 am and running around all day, so I won't be making it either. Hope it's at least entertaining even with no scrimmage.

Not a complete waste of time, but pretty close.

The biggest takeaway is that the cheer/dance teams are vastly improved. Hopefully they are utilized well.

It isn't Meet the Gaels anymore it's Maroon Madness.
Meet the Gaels was the equivalent of the start of of baseballs Spring Training for Iona basketball fans.
The new format is great for the students (as it should be), but it's no longer that early glimpse we used to get of this years roster.
Hoping maybe we'll see an exhibition/scrimmage, if not, the sun will still come up tomorrow.

Trying to get huge student attendance to the home games. Looks like they were giving out T-shirts, free food and lots of giveaways.

Never more disappointed by an advent associated with Iona BB. Sat through most of it, left after an hour while it was still going on, and I saw two things that were BB related. Arriving early I saw a player shooting threes with a coach monitoring his performance. Looked to be about 6'6 or 6'7 and he was a lefty shooter, and his performance was impressive. I think it was Terrell Williams but a fellow alum said it was Greg Gordon. Since he was in sweats, I couldn't tell. The dunking contest was a three person contest, Bates, Brice and Gordon, and I think that Brice won, but IMO, Greg Gordon should have won as he put on a very entertaining show. Contest took all of about 10 minutes.
As for the "Big" prize winners, only students were eligible and I didn't wait around to see who won the car.
I had planned to attend the Women's event on Saturday morning, but am going to pass. Put it into the "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" category.
Got excited when leaving and walking behind a few students who were very enthused talking about the five recruits who were in attendance. Two were described as five star recruits, and as I was about to ask the names of the recruits one of the students said that they were the two top Irish dancers in America. A perfect ending to the night.
