Funny, I went into this season with the mindset of less anxiety, without the stress of losing games that hurt potential NCAA seeding and a MAAC championship
Holy shit was I wrong, lol. This sucks a lot more watching this poor shooting and just giving games away

Hearing lots of criticism of the coaching. How about the players are just not up to Iona standards? I thought our press was very effective for the most part and we had plenty of open looks. When you shoot 6-14 from the foul line, we just can’t expect to win many games. On paper, our guys are as talented as any in the conference. We really going to look at SPU & Fairfield and say “wow, those guys are a step above in talent.”

When you shoot 6-14 from the foul line, we just can’t expect to win many games. You have mentioned this a few times the last couple days. Times have changed. Cluess/Grasso had loaded rosters mostly due to transfers. Tough to get that same level transfer now because of NIL. Iona landed guys like Jolly and Joiner only because of Pitino. I believe Iona's NIL collective is pretty well funded vs other MAAC programs, but not sure how realistic it is to pull as many talented transfers as in the past with the new playing field. Quite frankly, not sure how big Tobin is on transfers? Likely grab a couple but will be shocked if he recruits as many as he did this season. Really didn't have a choice for this class. Pretty sure there were 5 scholarships for '24. So far he's taken 3 HS kids and involved with many more, only 2 remaining if everyone returns. Sharkey, regarding open scholarships, you mentioned 5. Did not see Farias on the bench today. Is he still with the team?

Can we get an update on Williams? If I’ve missed a recent report on his status, please repeat…

On paper we appear to have as much talent as anyone, especially with the productivity out of our freshmen. With that said, for this team, the whole is not greater than the sum of its parts. In fact it is far less than the sum of its parts.
I have total faith in Tobin and the staff. I watched him build a great program at STAC and I expect us to be ready for the MAAC tournament. I expect him to land two or three more quality recruits especially giving us some length. We already have three good recruits signed, 2 can run an offense and can shoot the three and actually hit FT's. The other is an athletic big who has been dominant off the boards and has scored consistently while being the third or fourth option on his team.
While we suck at the moment.... the future is bright, IMHO.
In Tobin I Trust!

Very likely redshirt year

Williams will graduate. Has a covid season remaining but doubt he returns. The 13 taken includes Farias

If you don't think it matters, you don't know the game. The question was about talent. How the lack of “Iona standard players” is leading to this monstrosity we are seeing on the floor. Continuity of course matters. I don’t need to be condescended.

Before the season and as of the Charleston opener, I would have agreed with you. But after 15 games how can you possibly feel we are as talented as any other team in the conference? It is pretty obvious that we are inferior to most of the MAAC teams from a talent standpoint. Find me one player we have who is in the same stratosphere as the Henderson or Bayless kid from Niagara?

Brutal way to lose. But well desserved. You can't press and let a 2 on 1 happen in the last 6 seconds

How do you lose a important home game while forcing 21 turnovers including 17 steals? Shooting 6-14 from the line and losing on the boards 41-24. Team just isn't very good. I'm all in on Tobin, BUT he has to realize he needs more size, especially when the team can't make free throws. Can't lose the battle on the boards and FT line every game and expect to win. Panzo and Shema 4pts on 0-6 from three Next 3 games...MSM, Canisius and @qpac. not good You didn't like tretout playing C for 10 minutes?

Did Anthony and Greg put the black cloud stink on this one? Straight to the bank, thought we would win but this team shouldn't give 10 pts to 5 guys on this board
