In November you always hear don’t worry we will be better by March, well that isn’t true for every team, some teams get worse, we are an example of that. Think we have one win left, home against Siena. More negative: Tretout and Anderson going at it, Tretout’s eyes on the bench the last few minutes were of a player that just wants the season to end. Meanwhile Shema on end of bench rooting everyone on, and trying to teach, he needs to play more, no matter that he isn’t 100%, he at least cares, so does Brown. Tobin gets a pass this year but he doesn’t next year, have to bring in a more cohesive group.
Yep. Not gunna bash him this year, but no excuses from here on out.

I know what Tobin is going to say "We All Have to Get Better" He says it all the time. Not happening this year, maybe next year. He caught lightning in a bottle with the Purdue win. Hopefully he can turn this mess around next year and be willing to try something different then 40 minutes of pressing. Get some good asst. coaches and some low post players would be a good start.
What do you want him to say? We still have 3 games and a conference tournament game. You want him to say something like it’s over fellas. See you next year?
I guess that would be acceptable, he would be telling the truth.
I said on the chat that we have maybe 1 starter for next year's team on this roster. Now I believe we have none. I cannot imagine any of these guys starting on a decent team. Arunguren & Quigley maybe role players off the bench. Otherwise we really need to start from scratch.
Aranguren and Quigley are both freshman. I think they can be impact level MAAC players. They are nowhere near WCJ level, but remember the progress he made from freshman to sophomore season. I think those two can be very good MAAC players.

Love him, why? Best I can say is I don’t hate him, I hate Pitino.
He’s a good guy. Played hard for us. Represented Iona well. Didn’t quit during the season. He moved up and got paid to do so. I don’t blame him. Pitino is another story.
I love 4 guys from last years team: BJL, Shema, Casey and Weiss.

Not Clayton?
No, maybe like a little. Same with Nelly. But as for Jenkins if you put a St. Chicken uniform on, your soul turns black, I’m being kind not hating him.

I wish Tretout left with Gordon. Stopped watching, just couldn't do it any longer and I never turn off games. Tretout and Tobin had words on the bench?
I love Oz, but honestly it's painful watching how the injuries have hurt his production. Hate to say it, but he was getting physically abused on the defensive end. This season is shot, has been for a couple weeks. Saunders was supposed to redshirt this season, but since that's likely no longer an option, have to get him some experience for next season. Same with Brice, see what he has the last 3 games of the season, and probably 1 tournament game?
Buckle down folks but unless Tobin lands a few impact Juco kids, next season will be another total rebuild season.
The issue nowadays is that with the portal and NIL, we just don’t know how long we can hold onto these freshmen for. Makes you rethink your strategy around player development and investing in young prospects.

Why is next year a total rebuild? The way the NCAA is going every season is going to be a total rebuild. 🤣
Separate note. The MAAC really needs Iona and Siena to be good to keep some semblance of respectability. We are heading toward a Quinny, Niagara, Marist and SPU semifinal. Nightmare.

Agree, bringing in so many freshmen could be blindly ignoring what is happening out there. We could just be the G league for the bigger conferences. I knew NIL was going to be bad but really worried it could be the death of Iona basketball. Have to get out of the maac, the ship is sinking and it’s every man for himself, only problem is I don’t think there are lifeboats around. What league can we even go to?
The last thing Iona fans have to worry about is a player getting poached.
As far as recruiting for next year, hopefully JUCO kids. IF they recruit a grad transfer, has to be a guy that played a role on a winning team. We saw this year can't rely on transfers who were never THE guy, and expect them to be leaders for only 1 year.
