I don't recall when I70 referred to Temple and fixing games, but here are some details.

In my miniscule mind, and I've been there for weeks; next season is Tobin's first opportunity to coach a health basketball team at Iona.
This year he had to take his team through the trauma of ER, through critical care and into recovery. For those of us who have gone through trauma in our lives, we know that you go through setbacks. Nine months is not enough time to be fully functioning again. Remember what we went through when Coach Cluess became ill. That episode was brutal for Coach and his absence rocked our program. Thank goodness Coach came through it and now seems to have regained his health.
To regain our program's health, we reached for the wizard of OZ. For a host of good reasons, we did not want to go any further down his yellow brick road.
Tobin has led us through this trauma. The cancers have been removed, and he now has a stable program on his hands - thanks in large part to the sacrifices of OS. Let's use this off season to get back to full strength. If Os is interested in continuing his graduate work at IONA, I hope Tobin can find a graduate assistantship for him.
Welcome aboard, Coach!

So we will be the 7 against most likely Manhattan or the 8 against Canisius. So if things turn out right quinny, rider and st petes are in the other bracket, imho still gives us a shot i sign up for jaspers--fairfield--- marist/canisius

I know all hope may seem lost for some Iona fans but want to point out this stat spanning the last 13 seasons. Since the start of the Maac tournament in 2013, IONA is 27-4 in tournament games and I remember them all vividly. I know it's been said before and yes no NCAA tournament wins to show for it, but 31 times we've sat down and watched a win or go home game in the Maac tourney and only 4 times have we left disappointed. That's including the start of Covid which if that game vs St Peter's was a day later, would have never even been played. I look forward to sitting down again next Tuesday knowing that I might be able to watch our Gaels play 4 games in 5 days. I became a fan because I enjoyed watching them play and that's what I'll get to do again next week. In case people some people forgot, the league is a sh*t show and I'll never count our Gaels out
Go Gaels

In the words of former Iona coach, Gary Brokaw, "All that matters, are those three games in March". Well, so far in March, we're 1-2, so I hope this wasn't what he meant. I’ve always hated that attitude. It all matters. He meant the MAAC Tournament duhhhhhh but this team will get eliminated quickly without Gordon they are lost also the freshman other then Quigley aren’t all that promising but they were better then anyone he brought in with experience. Oz is a sad situation whoever thought he would play this poorly. Granted he’s supposedly injured but he defends the basket and rebounds like a small guard.

I believe Os was preseason 1st team all Conference. I am sure he is frustrated, by the way the season has played out. Best wishes and thanks are due to him.

If we play Fairfield a third time, they're going to beat us by 100. I'd be fine against the teams that swept us (QU, SPU), I like our chances of not going 0-3 even with how we've played of late. But definitely yes, let's hope Quinny loses to SPU and Fairfield beats Mount, we get the 7 and the Jaspers and then it's Quinny in the quarters and not Fairfield. However, I'll throw a counterpoint out there, 1 seeds have a terrible history in the MAAC Tourney, so if we fall to 8-9 vs Griffs and win that, I would rather play Quinny in that spot just for the semantics of it LOL

A little late to this but yes I wish Tobin could have found a way to get Gordan to finish the season, but what if he knew Gordan was already exploring offers, and he knew he was almost definitely leaving at the end of the year? How do you keep playing a kid you know is leaving when he is due to return next year.Makes it very hard to control the team. As it turns out right now there is no team to control. Feels like it was a no win situation for Tobin.

Honestly I don't think he left in search of a bigger NIL deal.
Bailing on his teammates this late only hurts his value. He was suspended earlier in the year. The last game he played, he was pissed off when Tretout forced a tough layup end of game, and he didn't get the touch despite finally getting hot.
As soon as the game ended, he went straight to the locker room, not joining the team on handshake line. My 1st thought was, oh shit, he's getting suspended the next game. Little did I know that would be his last game
I think it was more of a Gordon/Tretout thing than him leaving for better NIL deal.
Unfortunately, the wrong kid left

But you can’t put up with insubordination. Most players are able to flex their own desires and be good teammates. Some are not capable of that.

Where’s 05? Start the Siena thread, then maybe someone will tell me when the senior ceremony starts. I’d start it, but I’ll be told I’m jinxing us, but at this point maybe a jinx will help!
