Think it fair to say that we have hit bottom, but, as everyone knows, that means there is no where to go but up. And, that means the big question is how. My greatest concern about the team is coaching/game planning. I'm hearing now that on a recent zoom call TA voiced a concern over TO's. And then in the very next game he went with his 'big' lineup, with three forwards and two guards. For me that's not a recipe for fewer TO's.
A second coaching concern is how we can't defend 3pt shooters, like the defender not being anywhere near the shooter. All too often. I don't see this changing until most of the season is in,"our rear view mirror". My amateur suggestion is to try playing zone. I feel confident that it can't be any worse. But even if it is we can always go back to man to man.
Five games in and being a "glass half full" type fan, these are some positives: * Biggie is our go to guy. We're not giving him much help, but his talent is showing. * Moundi is our best rebounder, and imo, our best low post player. Needs to play major minutes. * Luke Jungers is our best 3pt shooter (thank you Capt. Obvious), but his range doesn't extend to the bench. Play him. * Adam Njie has the talent to become a great Iona PG. No doubt there is a question of having to play so many minutes is a good or bad thing. Come January with Winborne available we should have a better idea of how our backcourt should be constructed, with Reeves and Wallace in the rotation. * Bundy, Emuobor and Barr are the guys who should fill out our small lineup, resulting in a significant improvement in TO's. * And last and maybe most important is that TA and his staff must come up with a game plan that eliminates (for the most part) our 4 and 5 guys handling the ball on the outside and then trying to drive into the lane. Play one of our bigs in the low post.

I want to see how we matchup in conference play. The OOC games are what they are and I don’t put much into that. Have we played another team that has also has a mass exodus from the previous year?

Every team has the same problem, Hofstra has 16% of last year's minutes playing 16% more than Iona If that's what we are blaming we will never be good again, after we lose seniors, what do you think will happen next year, we have at most 33% next yeard

So retain your players then How? I’d like to hear how you would rectify the situation.

A start would be showing that we have talent and can play good/exciting BB. Have a team that players will want to be a part of.

If we are "rock bottom" with a win and a poor record against mostly good teams, what's Canisius, winless against a so so schedule and a 70-point loss? Perspective is important.

This whole thread proves the point I just made in the WVU thread. Calling a thread "Turning the page" only to have it turn into another negative pile of bullshit from people who think they know more than the coaches.
