From Soccer America:
-- The most notable absentee, of course, is Freddy Adu, whose stock has fallen so low that his exclusion from Tuesday's list hardly received any mention.

I would have taken Buddle and Casey. I would have left Brian Ching home. He is a similar style to Casey but has been injured. Id take a healthy guy in game shape who's in a slump before I took a guy coming off a leg injury.

Spain down to its 23 man roster. Three weeks!!! Tomorrow Champions League final, Bayern Munich v. Inter Milan. Rooting for BM in this one. Oh yeah, Argentina is down to 23 men too. And Maradona drove over a reporter's foot in his mini-cooper.

Yeah BM all the way. If they win they get the extra team into the champions league and Italy will go from four to three.

Yep. I'm rooting for BM too. Maybe they come to U.S after they win and get drunk in NYC like they did the last time they won.

Inter Milan 2-0, too bad. Heading to the friendly Tues. night v. Czech Rep. at E. Hartford with my little guy. Chance to see our national team. Letting him go to school late on Wed. How often do you get to see your national team for any sport live?
USA baby!!!

Have fun CT - wish I was going myself - got to see them spank Mexico in last years qualifier. I hope Onweyu is OK, he is critical to that defense. Go USA!

Have fun CT - wish I was going myself - got to see them spank Mexico in last years qualifier. I hope Onweyu is OK, he is critical to that defense. Go USA! [/quote Thanks GC. The crowd was all revved up; this was a great atmosphere. Great venue to see soccer. Beautiful warm summer like night. Got to say the parking was atrocious. Was in the parking ropes at 7:20 and we didn't get to our seats until 8:15. Most dysfunctional parking I ever saw at a major sporting event. Agree "Gooch" is the key to our puzzle. I kept my eye on him and, although its an untrained eye I didn't notice any ill effect from his injury. He did get outjumped a couple of times, but these Czech guys were surprisingly good jumpers ( we should recruit there). He seemed to move ok and kept up with the Czech forwards. When he was out our back line was shaky. We don't have a lot of depth there. I hope he is fit enough. Not sure, but I think Bocanegra has a sports hernia. Don't know about him. Hard to take much from this with Donovan, Altidore, Dempsey, and Howard all sitting out. Buddle and Beasley had a lot of energy. Beasley takes to many "dives" for my taste. He should play for the Italians. I don't know anything about the Czechs, except that they smacked us in the WC in 2006. I don't know what kind of test this version is. Never been to an event where a US National team played; it was stirring. Much more juice than watching Sergio Mitre pitch for the Yankees against the Twins for example. When we scored on that header in the second half, my little guy and I were pumped. Lot of fun.

I agree CT, nothing like the energy at a national team game. Czechs are a good team and were playing more of their "A" team then we were. I am a little concerned about Gooch, on TV he looked a step slow and got completely out-jumped in the box on a goal. I'm hoping it was because he was being cautious, not wanting to get hurt in an exhibition. Interpreting what Bradley said after the game it sounds like Gooch will be on the team. Also sounds like it's possible Gomez and Rogers (Go Crew!) played their way on to the team. 16 Days to the world cup! Go USA!

Hey - that was great, I've seen it before. We've got the big game here in Columbus this weekend. Undefeated Crew vs. Undefeated Galaxy (OK, so the will be w/o Donovan and Buddle). Should be a great game.

GC, do the Crew have any friendlies coming up? I saw Seattle played Boca Juniors yesterday, and AC Milan is planning a trip to play Houston and Chicago, I think.
We've got the match v. Turkey tomorrow. I hope everyone plays and I hope we shake off some rust. We should have a better feel after tomorrow.

WC starting lineup are supposed to all start tomorrow v. Turkey. They only have 2 games to play together before WC, so I suspect you will see those guys playing most of the time in these last 2. No friendly's for the Crew this year - schedule too busy with the league games, U'S. Open cup and the Champions league games coming up. They will play either Toluca or Santos (Mexico, not Brazil) in group play for the champions cup, so that game will be interesting.
