What penalty did an American player commit on that goal? How is a penalty called and the penalty not identified?
One of the Americans was being held in a bearhug, isn't that a penalty?
That ref was probably an Al-Qaeda operative.

Soccer guys.....Watched the exciting World Cup...."We was robbed"...Correct me if I am wrong....If we tie the next game....We will be undefeated but eliminated......Only in World Cup Soccer....Strange. Go Gaels!!!!!! Conversely, we will not have won any games either.

Scenarios re Algeria match:
If we win, we are in.. We will have 5 points. Right now England has 2 and Slovenia has 4. They play eachother at the same time we play to avoid any collusive tactics. If England beats Slovenia, they also will have 5 and both England and we will advance. Slovenia will have 4 and Algeria 1 under this scenario. If England ties Slovenia, Slovenia will have 5 and England 3, Algeria 1, we advance. If England loses to Slovenia, Slovenia will have 7, England 2, Algeria 1 we advance. So if we win, we advance no matter what.
If we draw, ?. We will have 3 ponts. If England beats Slovenia were out based on the numbers above. If England draws with Slovenia, it comes down to tie breakers as Slovenia will have 4 points and both we and England will have 3 points. Algeria will have 2 points. So we need to have a better goal differential than England. But we won't under this scenario, we'll be tied with a 0 goal differential, so then we'll go to total goals. Right now we have 3 and England has 1.
If we lose we are out. Under this scenario if England beats Slovenia, England will have 5 points, Slovenia 4 and Algeria 4. We'll have 2. If England ties Slovenia, Slovenia will have 5 Algeria 4 and England 3. If England loses to Slovenia, Slovenia will have 7, Algeria 4 and England 2 along with us.
Bottom line: Win and we are in. If we tie, let's hope its like 5-5. If we lose, we didn't deserve it anyway, losing to Algeria. Also Algeria has something to play for. And mathematically both Slovenia and Algeria can advance.
Hope I did this right.

Wow! Amen, one minute we're packing our bags, the next we're winning the group over England!!! Huge goal by Donovan. Maybe we'll relax now and not miss open nets. We get Ghana, 2:30pm Saturday.

I am so proud of this team. They really represent what America is all about to me. Their toughness and resiliency those guys showed was inspiring. I can't wait until Saturday!

Even if you're not a soccer fan, you'll love this video someone assembled that captured reactions to Donovan's goal from mostly around the country but a couple from around the world as well. Most of the clips are from bars. Side note: a shot from a bar in Albany is included; I've asked the MAAC posters if that's Jillian's and, if so, whether any of them were there. youtu.be/jbn3rOPmR9w

France & Italy now both out. Finalists from 2006 in Germany don't get past the group stage. Apparently, the end of the Italy - Slovakia match was pretty wild with three goals after the 80th minute.

It was pretty wild. You have to wonder where the urgency was for the Azzurri for most of the game. It was "good" to see another team get hosed on disallowed goals for a change - but did it have to be my second favorite team? Hmm, maybe it's me!
