We wouldn't have beaten Purdue last night, but we wouldn't have been a 14 seed anyway. But even those "good" 13s laid eggs, save for Morehead.
There is no way for the MAAC to ensure they're sending their best team, or the team most capable of winning an NCAA game. Even if we go Ivy and eliminate the conference tournament, sending Fairfield wouldn't have worked out any better last night (though, again, they would have gotten a better seed).
The bottom line is that Iona had the best opportunity to take care of business, as #4 SPC knocked off the #1 and home team Stags, and we still lost. SPC deserves credit, and Iona's left to shake it off and win the CIT.

Next year there will be two very good MAAC teams, assuming no significant injuries or transfers. And depending on how Iona and FF schedule, I think we'll both have a realistic shot at an at-large bid. We'll both need to beat a couple of top 50's in our OOC skeds. I know we're in a VG tourney, but will need to schedule a couple more 'up' games. Richmond and W&M will help, but we'll need a BE or a BCS team, also. Does anyone know anything about FF's schedule? And yes I know history is against us, but I just think next year will be special for both teams. JMO.

Richmond advances to the Sweet 16. We got a lot of mileage out of that win this year.
Butler up 28-18 over Pitt. Why didn't I believe?

I think next year has too many "ifs". 1) With regard to FF is Cooley stays and if not who transfers out. 2) We need to replace 2 very productive players when they were healthy. Pelcher showed signs but he was far from consistent. Plus we're extremely thin on the front line.

I guess Gonzaga wasn't as good as some St. Chicken fans thought. Maybe St. Chicken was just over rated. Bring all those team St. Johns beat at home into the Hynes center and see if Iona can't beat them. Villanova sucked at the end of the year. St. Johns didn't beat anyone all year away from home. The NY media was dreaming for basketball to be back, it just isn't, unless you look at New Rochelle next year.

Bunch of Freshman, bring em on. St. Chicken usually loses to Iona, next year would be the same.

And if I had to pick a winner off 10 minutes of play My pick would be Arizona to go all the way. They come out smokin in the second half!
