Here's what ESPN says of Gomez:
"Gomez is a long lean mobile post that runs the floor extremely well. He has displayed the ability to catch and finish above the rim at high speeds. He has decent hands and touch around the rim when he receives drop off passes created by dribble penetration. He is a decent area rebounder and an excellent shot blocker who uses his length and timing extremely well."
The problem is that at 6-9, 190, he "is very thin and needs to add strength in order to help him handle the physical play in the post on both ends of the floor."
ESPN Continues, "He is very raw skill wise and must work to develop his back to the basket scoring package." Gomez would be an excellent red shirt candidate, it adds

i've seen gomez numerous times - and this is a long-term project. if you guys thought pelch needed to bulk up - wait til you see this kid. thin is not the word. i've seen him have some nice games on the defensive end - but offensively he was often out-muscled by guys 6'3" and 6'4".
but as they say - you can't teach height.

I'm extremely happy with the local pickup. When was the last time we had a player from Rice? Just-in-time Marshall?
This kid has wingspan and I predict he'll be our version of Sam Bowie by the time he graduates.
He WILL contribute. Hopefully he's still growing

Hopefully he's still growing Justin Marshall is not a Rice graduate, our last player from Rice, I believe, was Burtt Jr. I don't see Cluess as a guy who develops players with raw talent, so I'm not to high on this commitment. Maybe he turns out to be a Charles Henson type.

Not sure I get this one either. Have to put this one under the category of trusting that the staff knows what it is doing.

Kashif Pratt was a Rice kid. I think he is our last Rice pickup though he did not last long.

Jeff Goodman reports Arizona sophomore guard Lamont Jones is transferring, more than likely headed to the New York area. High level NYC point guard who went to Oak Hill. Averaging 26 mpg for the Wildcats, so playing time wasn't the issue. If mid-majors aren't off the table, could be a perfect replacement after Scotts departure.

Wow! He went from 6'9'' 190 to 6'10'' 220 in one day. Imagine how big he'll be in November!
