ichoops, you said that Randy was very athletic and played above the rim. What are you basing that on? I'll find some Video for you. Just trust me. ;D What we have here is a "Kenny Jackson" situation. JC player came in made a very good contribution to our last NCAA run. Cluess is a winner!

This kid is more a pure 3 than Jackson, who was more a pure 2.
But the write-ups I saw described him as very athletic, and in searching around yesterday I saw a video of him in high school one-hand dunking a lob pass--video quality was poor, that's why I didn't post.
I'm thinking this kid is very much in McGill's mold.

He was 20 on November 7, 2007? Nice. He'll be able to rent a car soon without putting down a big deposit. B.F.D. I'd say more than half of freshman hockey players are 21 when they enter college. Here's another thing he has over Ubiles... A degree.

Anyone have any idea as to what is happening regarding the last scholarship? Getting back to the question that started this thread: Anyone have any idea as to what is happening regarding the last scholarship?

I think the long wait and anticipation has led to a over enthusiasm of our latest recruit....comparison's to Kenny Jackson, and Ubiles are hopeful to say the least...He may turn out to be a useful player, but in reality we should keep in mind that he comes from a small JR. College, that does not even have a home court...It is a nice program, but several lengths behind Div1 basketball....Over the past few years, Monroe sent others of their best players to Metro Div1 schools, and to the best of my recollection, they for the most part became journeymen players....
We still have not closed the biggest hole in our armor....If injury or foul trouble plague Rodriquez or Pelcher does not reach his potential, its big trouble...Our 4's McFadden and Kestic are just not big or strong enough to fill in at center. Some say "Rebounding by Committee" Sounds nice, and might work for a game or two, but can not be sustained over the season..
If James decides to come to Iona, we must accept him, as it looks like he will be a exceptional MAAC player...but..He is at the most 6-5 6-6, and the hole will be left lurking......
Pessimistic...No...Just a concern to what I expect to be a very fine season for the Gaels....
Go Gaels!!!!!!

My guess if James comes some one else will leave still leaving room for a big.

jb........My thoughts........Perhaps there are no valued "Bigs" left out there, and Staff is not ready to fill in with a so-so big that will be around for 4 years......Another Jr.College recruit is a possiility, but again there is not much left... If James comes, we might just have to wait until 2011 for the True"Big"when the pool is filled......With a NCAA bid, and Rodriquez leaving, I am sure that will be no problem....
Go Gaels!!!!!!

OT,
I agree with you. At this point we may need to go with a 6'9, 6'10- JC player that can help rebound if injury strikes.

"...he’s athletic, he’s got Big East potential,” one Big East assistant coach said of Matthews. “In the NEC, if his head’s on straight, he’s the best player in the league."
Thanks, but no thanks.

Cluess will deliver. He's good like that. We had 20 wins with almost no production at the 4. We'll have some this year.
