Iona is within a whisker of dropping a peg behind the next Home Bracketbuster school or two. Oral Roberts and Davidson expected to win their next few. Losing to Fairfield is the most we could afford to stay in this 3rd slot according to the RPI Bracketbuster Forecast. I would be a lot more excited to play a Wichita State than an Akron to max out our SOS.

Lunardi projects us as hosting Wichita State. I'd sign for that right now.

Wichita State (17-3, 8-1 MVC, S-Curve No. 32) at Iona (15-4, 7-1 MAAC, S-Curve No. 51): The other Gaels could still use a signature win, and the Shockers would certainly qualify. Iona's best wins to date are at Denver and against Saint Joseph's, two fringe NCAA candidates. Wichita State is at another level. The Shockers have taken down Colorado, UNLV and Northern Iowa.

I also would be thrilled with this match up.

That damn 1 point loss to Purdue is costing us at least 20 points in RPI and a very likely at large. We would have a nice win over Purdue and then would have played Temple and then Alabama or Wichita State. Even if we go 1-2 instead of 2-1 adding these teams to our OOC would have been a huge jump and beating 1 would have been even better.

Oral Roberts is now ahead of us on the Bracketbuster page. Davidson is just behind Gaels.

An Iona road win at Fairfield will give us back the RPI push we lost by crapping against Siena.

Is a 10 point win worth more than a 1 point win for RPI ?

Sagarin and RPI both have flaws; Pomeroy may have the best overall system. I'm surprised the NCAA still favors RPI over all else. Perhaps that will change soon.

And Pomeroy has us falling to 62 behind 13-7 Akron's 61 which might be the Bracketbuster

Still 53 in RPI up to the minute.
Beat Fairfield and SPC, and we'll go up 8-10 points.
I'll predict Long Beach State.
