sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the-dagger/projecting-five-top-bracketbusters-matchups-211030444.html3. Long Beach State (14-6, 7-0) at Iona (15-5, 5-2) Why it should happen: Pittsburgh's nosedive and Xavier's post-brawl decline have hurt Long Beach State's at-large chances, so the 49ers should want the strongest possible opponent here to boost their resume. If they don't get either Creighton or Murray State, the next best options are MAAC favorite Iona, Summit leader Oral Roberts, Southern Conference leader Davidson and Horizon contender Cleveland State. The first three of those teams are in the top 50 in the RPI and all four harbor slim at-large hopes, but Iona is the most attractive matchup because it would pit point guards Casper Ware and Scott Machado against one-another.

If we don't win both of these road games, the BB won't matter much.

Who picks these games. Is it a comittee? Is it basketball guys as well as ESPN executives? Love to know the criteria, RPI? Home court?, potential nba players, style of play, national attraction? Probably a little of all of these. After listening to Katz my guess is with a win on Sunday we will be happy with our matchup.

Davidson lost to Samford sending them plummetting in RPI. Starting to agree with others that we may get Long Beach State if we win on Sunday.

I'm watching Long Beach State and Cal-Fullerton right now on ESPNU. They are big and fast. Will be a real test for the Gaels if that's our draw.
Go Gaels!!!

I've been watching Wichita St at Drake, in double OT. Drake in position to win. Wichita and LBSU could flipflop. Either would be very good.

Is there a Bracketbuster selection show or is it just going to be announced tonight on ESPN as a brief feature?

One thing to keep in mind with the selections is they are going to give the Colonial one of the big games no matter what their RPI is. The Colonial has earned that the past few years, that is why Drexel could be coming to play us and possibly VCU gets Wichita state or long Beach state instead of them coming to us.

I watched the LBS game last night and the prediction was that Long Beach would come to Iona. The announcers said that it would be a great match up between Scott Machado and Casper Ware. LBS is long and fast and it will be a tough game for the Gaels, but we seem to get up for the tough ones.
Go Gaels!!!

Denver lost last night sending our RPI tumbling from 45 to 49, at this point I don't think it matters. I am not even sure it matters what we do today as they may already have the matchups selected by tonight. Would be nice to get Wichita st or Long Beach state and be on ESPN2, if that's the case hynes center will be full and rockin for one of the most memorable home games in Iona history.

Saw LBS against Pitt early in the year, they played a 3-2 I think, with this ridiculously long guy at the top of their zone. He kept giving the Pitt PG fits with his reach. He had something like 5 ft arms.

They played a lot of 3-2 zone and you're right they have a very big guy up front. They rebounded the ball very well and that big guy could knock down 3s.
I think that they will be very tough on the perimeter and we'll need Kyle's quick release if we draw them.
Go Gaels!!!
