This would be a VG win on the road; again, not a must win. I expect this will be a very tough game. Right now I'm thinking the Gaels will be favored by a basket.
Lately I've had a feel for each Iona game, and have been dead on. I honestly don't have a feel for this one yet. I do know that Loyola seems to be treating this like their Super Bowl--which bodes well for us.
Loyola's RPI is 93 today. A road win over them would boost our RPI a good 6-7 points, though we'd give a chunk of that back hosting Marist on Sunday anyway.

Oh, I don't know that this isn't a "must win".
If we were to lose, we'd be a game behind the Hounds in the standings with only 4 to play. Loyola does have a game at Manhattan to play, though. In any event, we'd be looking at a tiebreaker situation, which means there's a chance we wouldn't be the #1 seed--and as such wouldn't even get the automatic NIT bid, should things fall apart in Springfield.
Also, a loss here would kill any morsel of hope we may have for an at-large, and even with winning out the MAAC title would only get us to a 13 seed most likely. And I still feel there's a bit of a difference between a 12 and 13, moreso between a 4 and 5 seed.
So, IMO, they're ALL must wins now, and not just for the NCAA seeding thing. That's a lot of pressure--but honestly, this is the toughest game remaining on the schedule, probably by a good margin.

Agree this appears to be the toughest game remaining on our Sched. I don't believe we've got an at-large chance at this point, maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I see it unless things change dramatically. To me no diff. between a 1 and a 2 in the MAAC tourney and I'm not interested in the NIT. We've got three "must wins" in the MAAC tourney. That's how I see it.

I think Nevada is the toughest game left on the schedule. They are all must wins and Loyola will be tough in their gym, but Nevada is the most talented team remaining.

And I think Fairfield is the toughest game left on the schedule... So There!
Nevada has zero quality wins and I'm not certain they're better than Loyola. Also, an 8-point swing just for playing home rather than on the road.
I'm not interested in the NIT either, and who knows, if Iona finishes first and loses, perhaps they reject the invite--I'm just saying that it's better than nothing.

This is a very big game and due to it being on the road easily our toughest left.
Even if you forget about the automatic NIT invite, getting the #1 seed for the Maac tourney and keeping alive for an outside chance at an at large, shouldn't winning the league outright be a major goal of this team? They probably need to win this one to get to that goal, this is why this IS a HUGE game.

My hunches about this team this year have been pretty good. I did post earlier in the Manhattan home game thread that the game would be a close one and Iona lost. I thought Siena in Albany was scary and they lost. My feeling for the remainder of the Maac schedule is Iona has one real rough game ahead, and a couple difficult games. Having said that I think their in control Friday night, not a blow out, but not a nail biter either!
Should also be noted that finishing first means we wouldn't see Manhattan or Loyola until the finals, and also that we would not have to beat them both.
Fairfield doesn't scare me too much. In fact, I'm not certain they'd even win their 4-5 quarterfinal game against Rider or Siena.

Nevada's conference is ranked 12th in the country and ours is 20th. They beat a very good Washington team (although it was at home). Loyola will be tough and so will the Wolf Pack! Beat them all Gaels!
