Should also be noted that finishing first means we wouldn't see Manhattan or Loyola until the finals, and also that we would not have to beat them both. Fairfield doesn't scare me too much. In fact, I'm not certain they'd even win their 4-5 quarterfinal game against Rider or Siena. Agree on Fairfield. They can be dangerous, but the seem to have real chemistry problems and inconsistent shooting. They remind me a little of the 1998-99 Iona team (Ruland's first year), especially in the first half of the year. The talent was there, and they showed flashes of brilliance, but they always seemed to be trying to catch up, and when they weren't trying to catch up, they were blowing leads. The current group of FF players seems MUCH better suited to "Dawg" Cooley's style of play than Johnson's. Honestly, the only team that "scares" me is IONA, as they are the only team in the MAAC that can stop Iona. If they play to their ability they should be able to beat anyone in the league. I'm more worried about the Gaels falling flat, than some other MAAC team simply outplaying them, while they are playing well.

Agree, GM.
We need to stay focused and play up to our potential. If we do that, I do not see any MAAC team beating us. We lost in Baltimore last year and trailed by 5 to Loyola at home this year.
The Hounds are hungry to avenge their away loss to us. We need to shut down their perimeter game and will need Taj and Randy to step up to help Mike inside. It should be a battle, but if the Gaels play like they did in the second half against Manhattan, we should come away with the win.
I am looking forward to travelling to Baltimore after a court appearance Friday morning to watch the ladies and the men.
Go Gaels!!!

Two court appearances for Z-Man on Friday! We should be thinking local. The game is about who is the toughest kid on the (MAAC) block. Once that's settled, we can think about the guys on the other blocks.

Nevada game should be easier for the Gaels, as they don't have the luxury of playing us before (like Loyola) and that should help us, in addition to having the Nevada game at home. Since defense isn't our forte, not having played Nevada before shouldn't hurt us. JMO, but Loyola is our toughest remaining game since it's on the road. And maybe Rider is our next toughest, for the same reason, though their season has been awful.

And again, their conference is much better than ours.

I think Nevada is the hardest opponent we have remaining on our schedule (not counting NCAA's of course), but Loyola might be the hardest game (given that we're on the road). Regardless, neither game will be a cake walk. Hope the guys bring their "A" game to both.

if we play our best each game, we are 25-5. if we again friday, it should show the players- stay focussed and you are better than every team in the league, take someone lightly and we will be in the NIT.

Nevada? we play them this year?
Any idea what spread is? I think we win by 5. Cluess, if you read this. Box and 1 on Olson, put Smythe on him- do not let him shoot

So similar situation to the Manhattan game last week. Gonna be a hostile environment, a real burst of energy from them early on I would expect. Probably a few bad calls from the refs. Got to keep our composure. Deal with the early energy and any runs they make. Maybe we steal one late here if we do. Maybe we lead throughout. Good test on the road.
