The USMNT plays Canada tonight in Toronto in what I believe is the final tune up ahead of World Cup qualifying. We need to bounce back from the Brazil game, although we didn't play as badly as the 4-1 score indicated. Never mind bouncing back, we need to ditch those candy cane kits. Eek! Agreed, yuk

Don't know how Italy is going to find a way to score. Of course I thought the same thing v. Germany. Balotelli will need to have a big day.

Just for the record, Spain beats Italy 4-0 for the European Championship, utilizing ridiculous midfield play, crisp passing, relentless probing of gaps and, when found, decisive and creative playmaking. Beautiful goal by Jordi Alba who made a ridiculous run from left back, got a perfect pass from Xavi, and finished like a polished striker. Fernando Torres with a late goal and unselfish assist to his Chelsea teammate Juan Mata when Italy was done in and down a man.
Spain WOW!!!

Chelsea begins a tour of the U.S. with a beating of the Seattle Sounders, 4-2. I'll be at Yankee Stadium Sunday to see them play Paris St. Germain.

The women's USA vs Canada game was amazing. US wins 4-3, scores with a few seconds left in OT off a header by Morgan. US goes to the finals vs Japan.

One of the greatest games I have ever seen. Watched it twice already. Canada's Sinclair might be the best Women's player on the planet! Final should be great also!

I'll tell you the player on the US that always impresses me with her pace, desire and overall skill is Megan Rapinoe. She does everything you need to win.

EPL starts this weekend. Man City beat 10 man Chelsea in the Community Shield last Sunday, 3-2. New additions to the top flight: Southhampton, Reading, and West Ham. Bolton, Blackburn, and Wolves were relegated after last season. Got to think Man City, Man U are favorites again. Arsenal appears to be in a bit of a funk with Robin van Persie's fate up in the air. Will Tottenham, Newcastle, and Chelsea crack the top four? We'll see.

Hope Solo with a huge final. We get away with an obvious hand ball in the box in the first half. Carly Lloyd provides the scoring punch. On top of the world again!!! If Jozy Altidore can make himself into the player Abby Wambach is, the men will be in great shape.

USMNT v. Mexico tonight in Mexico City. 7pm I think. I believe ESPN2 kicks off their coverage at 7:30 pm Eastern with game time set for around 8pm Eastern. The game starts at 7pm Central time. It should be a real nasty match.
