So we had the drama with Cluess and we know he's staying. What's the deal with Grasso? Are we going to hear his name mentioned for any opening between now and July? Did we lock him up during the Cluess negotiations? What's the scoop?

I have no idea, but you can't lock him up if he's leaving for a HC job. Or would you want to.

So how does this affect our recruiting, if our lead recruiter is being mentioned regarding every open position in the North East? Well, a little hyperbole, I think we're talking about FDU, Niagara, and Rutgers (assistant).

Rumor has it he has several potential directions he can go--but at the moment, it's still business as usual in the Iona basketball offices.

Grasso is better than FDU, he knows this. Has any coach moved up from FDU? Hang around Jared, better kind will open up

I think the best progression for Grasso (assuming Cluess stays at Iona) is the following: 1 more year as asst at Iona, 1-2 years as BCS assistant, then head job at big program (A10, BE, etc.). Taking the FDU job right now would be a step up but also could represent a huge setback in the big picture of him becoming a BCS head coach if things don't go well (which is highly likely given the instability of that program).

Fdu accoring to Zags is down to thier final three and Grasso is not in the mix. Yes he is better and i think he knows that.FDU is a step down they dont put money into athletics. I think Grasso will make the right decision and we just might get one more year from him.

Also Niagara board reports that Chris Casey of CW Post (ex-Johnnies assistant) is front runner for that job. A few are having puupies at the prospect. When someone pointed out that TC was from CW Post, one poster wrote that Iona was going to fire him at the end of this season before our MAAC Tourney win because of losing close games. I guess you can't believe anything on these boards...except this one.

Dan Mchale is going with Richard Pitino to Minnesota. Another Big East assistant position opens up. Another bullet to dodge
