Willard just hired Fred Hill to be his top recruiter. Is going to do a killer job as Hill was always an excellent recruiter.

Guys the sucessful or slipperry recruiters really are used car salesmen they convince the kids that with them their team is going to win the national championship and or promise playing time and tell them everything they want to hear. So many people told me Kenny Williams was slippery when he brought all the talented kids to Iona from New York. I think Grasso is slippery too thats why we have turned the program around!!!!

I never heard Fred Hill was slippery. Fill me in though, what did he do? (aside from the incident at the baseball game. And that wasn't very slippery, that was just crazy and stupid). Rutgers has always been a disastrous hoops program, except when Tom Young was there. In their entire 107 year history they have made six NCAA's and eight NIT's. And five of those were in the late 70's to the early eighties with Young. Their last appearence in an NCAA game was 1991. (Fordham has made one, I think, since 1973, when Digger was there).

So many people told me Kenny Williams was slippery when he brought all the talented kids to Iona from New York. I think Grasso is slippery too thats why we have turned the program around!!!! I take umbrage to the reference to Grasso being slippery. In my world, that means that he is doing something unsavory in his recruiting process. I have seen nothing unsavory in the young men (except maybe a few too many tattoos) he has recruited to Iona, and I have seen nothing unsavory about his technique. To the contrary, some of the young men he has brought to Iona were salvaged from previously unsavory recruiting experiences. Maybe, at least in part, these young men see a concern for them based upon success other than basketball. Case in point - sitting a second semester senior for two games for over-sleeping was a huge statement about this program. Second semester senior! Who in the slippery world would have known? Elligibility is used up. Who would have cared?
