Here is my take on the team:
Sledge has to be the point guard, he handles the ball better and has more energy than the other point guards, also penetrates and kicks out better to our shooters who will be open in most cases .
Defense-wow it was embarrassing. If this part of our game is not corrected soon were are going 0-4 on this road trip. At least the defense has to begin to show progress, I hope. As far as league play goes, we have our work cut out for us.
Williams- don't know his background, probably has to make a lot of life adjustments, we must remember he is still a kid. let's give him some time.

Very tough. None of us can understand what he is going through. I hope he works it out and he becomes a great player.

Adjustments to the game and confidence will be to his and our benefit when it happens. Looking forward to your return IW.

pissed that we lost too but not surprised. Understanding that it is nice to build you OOC resume with some good wins it is also a time for TC to try new things such as different sets and personnel on the floor. I am confident that when conferecne play starts TC will have the right personnel and sets for this team to win the games. That Dayton team was a good one though and their bench players were not much different from their starters, a coaches dream. Very little drag on substitutions when you have that luxury. Commendable to see the bigs, Robinson and Hines getting some minutes and making mistakes early that they are learning from. That will make them that much more efficient come conference time as they mature and learn the intricacies of this level of basketball. The only thing that does frustrate me is the short rope TC has for Ellis, Sledge and Bowman. It hard to play with the thought in your mind that as soon as I make a mistake the horn blows and off to the bench I go. Tough to play under those conditions because we all know that there is no mistake free game and possessions are important but sometimes that mistake invigors you to make up for it some how but knowing your coming out if you make a mistake causes a lot of relunctancy in the player.

This was a tough one to watch as we never really were in this game. On the negative side, the zone defense is not rotating properly and giving up way too many easy baskets. Fortunately, that should be fixable. Dayton IMO at this point in the season is a better team than Kansas. Not to say that by the end of the season Kansas won't be a much improved team. A couple of positives - I thought we came to play (Unlike against the Bonnies) and even showed some toughness at times. Just played a better team. Also, I am very impressed with Hines. He seems to be picking up the D1 quickly and is a smart player. Still has a ways to go, but I think by mid-January he may be a major contributor. On to Nevada...

From watching them on TV, they both look like they will be solid contributors in the near to mid term. Hines seems more confident on the court. Big men though. We need them.

IC59 hit it on the nose. None of us have any idea why IW didn't play at Dayton. One guy on the board "guessed" it might have been due to a violation of team rules. A guess by someone is not a rumor. I can think of many reasons why a particular player didn't play, but I'm not going to take a guess unless I have something substantial to back up the guess. I do know IW wants a better life than the life he and his friends have had in Newark and he has been doing all the right things to reach his goal. Many of his peers are counting on him to lead the way. Let's not start rumors that could make the path even harder!

I feel AJ and Hines played hard. In his meager 6 minutes, Gomez did some nice stuff. The kid always seems to play hard on D and he makes the right decision on offense. The line up of AJ, Sean, Sledge, Gomez, and DL had the most cohesiveness of any unit last night. The past 2 games, AJ has abandoned that up tempo helter skelter pace the Gaels thrive in. I still feel AJ is our best possible point. While I agree Sledge should be given minutes due to his energy, I still feel Gomez needs to pick up some of those back up point guard minutes. As the season rolls along, I think it will be hard for TC to keep Gomez and Hines out of games. These guys play hard, hustle and actually defend.

Don't like blind speculation. Especially with young adults. +4
