Right on the money,Joebird. The Nevada announcers were shocked how easy it is to score on us. It was great to be able to watch the game on my Ipad. Wish I could watch Iona Insider on my Ipad. What do you think, sid?

Funny that Resumeman decided to post a Momo update now. Anybody missing Momo yet? The way this team is built we miss Ridley as much as Momo and maybe even more.

Another loss to a very mediocre team. My observations:
1. Don't jump off the ledge just yet. Still a LOT of basketball left to be played, and this team's best days are ahead of them.
2. Don't mean to throw Sledge under the bus, but am I the only one who continues to think he's a liability on offense? It could be a health issue, so perhaps he's not 100%, but just really frustrating to watch him with no outside shot and see him go up way too weak which results in easy blocked shots. Having said that, he's clearly one of our best and most intense defensive players.
3. Our defense is atrocious no question about it, however we're not going to win many games when Armand and Bowman shoot a combined 9 for 30 no matter how good our defense is playing. If they shoot even mediocre today (13 for 30) we likely win the game even with our horrid defense.
4. Today's loss puts us in a position where we basically need to have a 17-3 type conference record to salvage any kind of decent RPI, and dare I say it, seeding in March.
5. Let's not forget that we played the last two games without Isaiah Williams, and despite the criticism that some of us (myself included) have given him, I have to believe that he would've made a difference in a game like this.
6. Poor clock management in my opinion, especially late in the game when we let 4-5 extra seconds tick away on a few late possessions before fouling. It was almost like we were resigned to the fact that we would lose. Coaching staff needs to take some of the blame for this.
7. This three game stretch reminds me a lot of last year, only with the band aid effect since we're losing these games pretty quickly without it coming down to the final possession. Whereas last year was more like a slow and torturous pain.
8. With offensive weapons like AJ, Sean and DL3 I still believe that we are capable of beating almost any team on a given night. The recipe for the rest of the season needs to be A+ offense, C defense and B rebounding and we should still win a lot of games.
9. The fact that DL3 only took 4 field goals in 30 minutes shows me that we are not running enough plays around him on offense. He should be the centerpiece that the offense revolves around to create open shots for our guards from the perimeter, but instead it seems like we are an outside-in team instead of an inside-out team.
10. This team clearly got a bit too cocky after the winning streak earlier this month, and clearly so did the fan base with some overreaching expectations. Hopefully this losing streak has been as humbling an experience for the players as it has been for the fans. I know it has been for me.
Go Gaels!!!

Greg, I have been posting updates on Momo's performance in Japan each week, so there was no special relevance to today's posting.

Right now the Iona D is like Viagra for the offense of every team we play. LOL. Classic analogy ic1983. Well said.

Greg, I have been posting updates on Momo's performance in Japan each week, so there was no special relevance to today's posting. I know. I was half kidding and making a point. Good analysis 05. I'm still optimistic. Just a few of takeaways from me so far. 1. Road loss against a decent team. Team not that bad. We should have still beaten them, but it's always hard to win on the road 2. I like what I saw of Gomez, and it looks like they are getting him more involved. I'm not sure what he did wrong, but at one point Cluess pulled him and lit into worse than I have seen in a long time. The whole arena heard it. He then put Gomez back in later and he responded. 3. I said a few weeks ago that I don't think AJ should be the point guard (to be fair I think Super said it first) and I was changing my mind. I am changing it back. A.J. is too valuable off the ball. Tavon and Gomez will have to step up for this team to be as good as they can be. 4. This is a good, experienced coaching staff. They will figure it out. I got the feeling that they are still experimenting. Still coaching to win, but not quite sure what the best lineup is. Look at the track record. This guy inevitably figures it out. We will improve. 5. I hate losing and I am 0-4 for the season! Go Gaels.

Greg I also loved AJ at the point and now I also think he may help the team more as a 2. Not sure what the best lineup is but I too think this is a strength of cluess, he ends up usually playing the best lineup, but this team may take a while to figure out what that is, and I agree that Gomez must be in the mix.

Think we should start with Sean, AJ, Tre, DL and Sledge; come off the bench with IW, Poole, & Gomez with Robinson/ Hinds for DL and maybe occasionally with him. Sledge & Tavon @ pg for 30-32 minutes with only an occasional stint for AJ @ point. Hinds sealed off his man well 2x allowing for 2 of our very few driving hoops; Robinson showing increasing agility and confidence. Don't know if the team is ready yet for either to be in the game with DL.
Still not showing aggressiveness on D or the boards.

Super...any news on Isaiah Williams' status? Hoping he's back in good standing with the team as we could really use him for the UNI game and of course for the conference schedule.

Where is the team defense that we saw at Florida Gulf Coast. I don't see where Nevada and St Bonnies are that much better than FGCU.
The way this team is playing, they will lose more MAAC games than I thought. We shouldn't be thankful that the league is weak this year. So are we.
Laury's quick release FT seems new and needs to be fixed.
Someone needs to take leadership on the floor.
Joebird, agree with the Nevada web stream quality. And smart that it's available for free. Smart marketing branding of the team and the league.
