Deonte Burton is Nevada top scorer, 6'1 guard. Averaging 23 points per game. Good matchup for either poole or sledge. You put sledge on him tough fast guard who pressures him all game and than switch it up to have poole play him who is long and 5 inches taller.

They are 4-7 having lost 4 of the last 5...In looking over the teams schedule, roster and stats I am suspicious of internal problems....Much better was expected. Though they have very good height most of their stats carry ''No Stats Did not play''...They are No.336 in the nation rebounding and not much better in other team season stats...Much of their scoring comes from guard positions...It appears they are a team on the down swing....A victory will improve our moral for N.Iowa and prepare us for the MAAC opponents...

OT, to me this game is important to see where we stand (and I don't mean W and L). I'm talking about having ten or possibly eleven players, and how we mix and match. Like most of you I care about minutes played, and what combo works best. I have to say I'm excited, and feel we'll be playing our best BB in 2014.

Unable to watch or chat as I'll be travelling during the game. Should be a tough game as the Wolfpack will be looking for revenge from our handling of them in our bracket buster game. Burton is very good and must be controlled.
Not predicting the victor but suggesting this may be the "nip and tuck" type game that 05 and others have been looking for to see how the Gaels handle the game situations in which the outcome may be decided in the final few minutes.

Don't have the final stats, but with a minute or two remaining, Joy Adams had nineteen points and twenty one boards. The Lady Gaels are now, 7-2. A great start to the season.

Game preview from the Nevada fan site:
In the second of three consecutive home games Nevada (4-7) hosts Iona (5-4) on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Nevada has lost two in a row and five-of-six. The Gaels have lost a season-high two in a row. The game is a return trip from the 2012 Bracketbusters game when the Pack lost 90-84 on Feb. 18, 2012 in New Rochelle, N.Y. We take a look at the key players to watch.
A.J. West 6-9 Junior Forward In the previous Around the Rims, we focused only on opposing players. But today we change it up for a special occasion. The return of AJ West. West, a transfer from Monroe College, will make his Nevada debut against Iona after sitting out the first 11 games due to some eligibility issues with the NCAA. For the Pack, the return of the shot blocking and rebounding forward is much needed. Nevada has been able to score with teams this year, but their defense has been subpar. West will immediately give coach David Carter a big man that can make opponents consider taking the ball to the rack. It is important to note, that even though West did average 5.1 blocks at Monroe College last year, that level is nothing compared to the D I level, so it could take a few games to adjust. Stamina could also be an issue for West against Iona, seeing his first game action this year. Look for West to play only a couple minutes at a time against the Gaels, but his presence alongside Lucas Strivins, Ali Fall or in smaller lineups with Cole Huff, should help the overall team defense and rebounding.
Sean Armand 6-5 Senior Guard What does Iona do well? Score, shoot efficiently, and play unselfishly. Shooting guard Armand is the catalyst for all three of these traits. As a team the Gaels average 81.0 points per game, good for 41st in the country and Armand scores over one-fourth of those points with 22.8 points per game. Efficiency wise, Iona shoots the ball at 48% on the year, while Armand shoots a bit higher than that at 52.3% from the field and 43.7% from the three-point line. On top of all that Iona averages 17.1 assists per game, good for 14th in the country. Armand is second on the team with 3.8 assists a game. What do all these numbers mean? First Armand is a very good basketball play that Nevada will have to key in on. But if Nevada focuses too much on stopping Armand’s scoring, he can also distribute and hit open teammates. Iona is a very good team, and even though Armand is their best player, the team still comes first. For Nevada to win they will have to play a team game and likely outscore the Gaels.

West and Laury are friends and are very familiar with each other as they played at Ocean Academy together.

I think he meant to say "For Nevada to win they will have to play a team game to outscore the Gaels."
I went to law school because they said, "no math", but even I can figure out that if they don't outscore us, we win. Time for Iona to string a few "W"s together.
Go Gaels!!!

Are they referring to Monroe College in New Rochelle? Did Brock Ericson coach him at all there?

Are they referring to Monroe College in New Rochelle? Did Brock Ericson coach him at all there? No... he only played one year at Monroe. He originally committed to Duquesne out of high school but switched at the last minute and enrolled at Niagara, where he never played. He claimed he switched because he played two years at Prep so the NCAA penalized him a year. He claimed that Niagara was willing to pay for his 1st year even if he was deemed ineligible and Duquesne wasn't. He eventually landed at Monroe College.
