It's not a vacation home for us. We rent out Dana point for weekend and seasonal incomes. It's close to the Marriott right up on the cliff. Laguna Niguel house is a long term rental. But, I have no problem with living either place. I've lived in both. My wife grew up in Laguna Beach, so we go down often. We just prefer the Bay Area overall. LA is a bit smoggy and the traffic is horrible. Orange County is a better situation. Neither has much character though which is why I love SF. It feels more like an East Coast town and has a real city feel and skyline. LA just doesn't, but it is warner. The best weather is really San Diego. As far as the NorCal/SoCal debate goes, it's a big issue for Cali natives and that's about it. As a native NYer, I am supposed to be predisposed to cherish NY above all, so putting either place ahead of NY is a big step. My job allows me to live in either NorCal or SoCal (and to an extent, I do) which is why I'm not emotionally attached to either place. Right now, I prefer NorCal but that could change quickly, and I could easily start using my current home as a vacation house living in Dana Point instead. That was basically the concept when we set it up originally. Regarding the local resorts, we prefer St. Regis as well. We've loved it ever since we spent the first night of our marriage there in this massive beautiful suite (LAX to Argentina the next evening). We were this Christmas as well. It was unseasonably warm and we spent the day after Christmas at the pool. I prefer it over the Montage as well, but the Montage is on the beach which is a plus. There is also the Ritz, which isn't too shabby. We do have actual vacation homes in Yosemite on Bass Lake, and a house I inherited on the North Fork of LI. We do spend considerable time at both places. Guy, Any chance of changing the site name to "The life and times of WSP"? You want me to change it now?

Serious question: assuming most of you guys had the option to attend either, why oh why, would you guys choose Iona over Manhattan?

WSP, get a grip. Where is your sense of humor. You would not pass on an opportunity to throw me under the bus given the chance. And there will be chances. Dog eat dog world.

Aren't you a grad of Siena's School of Substance Abuse and Cover-Ups? Or was your photo erased from the yearbook?

You're mistaken. I am still abusing substances at a high level (it's fine - I've got it under control). That degree is given to those, who have recovered from their drug of choice and followed through with a clean slate cover-up.

Well you could always go back for an M.A. Take MTS with you and get him into a fraternity. Phi Slamma Pizza.
