Really hoping for a Monmouth upset in the PIG. Really tough to beat a team three times in the course of 2+ weeks, which would be exactly what we'd have to do if we draw Rider in the QF. Regardless we are by far more talented than both of these teams, so we should win going away if we play our game.
Go Gaels!!!

I really feel Iona will be focused for either opponent.
The semi could be the toughest game of the 3.
I'm predicting a major upset in the other side of the bracket.
Go Gaels!

iona05, you started the thread, so we're good. My guess is that we get Rider. They have played us tough both times this season making runs after being down big. We just need to handle the press a bit better we should get the win against either Rider or Monmouth. I am sure that the team is not looking past this game (whoever we get) that would be a big mistake. Take it one at a time, Gaels and play up to your potential. You guys can defend your title. Take care of business, Gaels.
Go Gaels!!!

Super, that picture of me with Sean was a true highlight of my year last season. I put it up for Senior Day in his honor and I think I'll keep it up for as long as we keep winning (I'm superstitious that way). I would like to say that I was standing in a gully. But Sean is, indeed, much taller than I. I don't think that I'm just shy of 6' anymore. Meeting DLIII was even more humbling. I felt like the girl in "Animal House" with the guy who said "Do you mind if we dance with your dates?" when he shook my hand. He is a gentle giant, who is a beast on the hardwood. The only way I will ever get brown hair again is with a bottle of dye (that ain't happening). I'm just happy that I still have some hair. I am relieved that the picture wasn't taken from above or behind. In fact, if Sean had looked down at me, the glare off the back of my head could have temporarily blinded him.
I am still annoyed at Loyola for leaving the MAAC. The game in Baltimore was the one guaranteed game I got to watch live every season. It's an easy trip from the D.C. area. Now that I am getting older I need to take more time out to travel to see The Gaels. Maybe the first round of the NCAAs.
Go Gaels!!!

I see us playing a scrappy Rider then (provided we advance) Baron not Siena.
Manhattan has an easier path to the final than us.
Survive and advance.

Got to say I'm going all chalk with us playing Canisius if we beat Rider and the Jaspers playing St. Peter's in the semis. How great would an Iona - St. Peter's final be? Would like to get some revenge. But really thinking its us and the Jaspers. Canisius will be difficult. Anyone know the extent of Alvarado's injury?

Was gonna start the thread but I don't want to get hunted down here in Conn. and tarred and feathered LOL, bill (not really). You have the soul of a poet and the intelligence of a scholar. I wouldn't want anything unfortunate to happen to you (like a horse head in your bed). This is serious as a heart attack. I recall that 05 was starting the game thread during our streak last season. One game someone else started the game thread and it was whacked by Guy (with sincere apologies). We shouldn't mess with karma. By the way who is the Consigliere this season? Go Gaels!!!

I cannot tell you how much I would love to make that happen. I try not to set trials around this time of the year in hopes of making it again, but other court appearances seem to pop up anyway. I haven't been to the MAAC Tourney since we met in 2006. If we get to The Dance and end up in North Carolina, I'm going to make a real effort.
Go Gaels!!!

Anyone think that this weekend's games might just be officiated ever so slightly in a pro Iona, Manhattan and Siena way, in order to keep the Siena fans in the building as long as possible and to set up Super Bowl 3 between Iona and Manhattan in the finals? Don't think anything exaggerated will happen, but can see us three getting the benefit of some 50-50 calls as if we were a regular home team.

Not looking forward to our facing Rider if they beat Monmouth. Rider knows they can come back on us and that at times we did not handle their press well. Especially concerned if they get hot from 3. Whoever we play we need to come out "Fast and Furious" and put them down early. Be efficient with each possession, move the ball until that open look is there. Mantra should be "share the ball and challenge each shot". Let's get things started. Rider vs Monmouth- wishing for double overtime.

Rider has a lot of talent on that team. If TC is coaching that group, the rest of the MAAC is looking up at them.
