From the MAAC Conference bracket website......
''As most recent calculations we predict Iona will be the most likely winner of the 2014 MAAC Tournament.....The second most likely team to top the MAAC tourney is Manhattan''
I choose to root from a full confidence position.......

Would imagine that our odds to win the MAAC tourney would improve with a Monmouth win over Rider tonight. Believe a big reason why Manhattan currently holds a slight odds advantage over us to win this weekend is because the likelihood of a QF upset is greater for us facing Rider than it would be for Manhattan facing either SPU or FF. If we play Monmouth in the QF our odds would increase. My guess is that if Monmouth wins tonight we should be virtually even odds with Manhattan to win 3.

Not sure I agree with that. I think SPC is being VASTLY underrated going into this weekend. I think they won 6 of 8 to close out the year, and one of those losses was the game they almost stole from us at Hynes.
All 4 quarterfinals should be interesting. Quinny can be had due to its injury, SPC has played REALLY well and can get into a low-scoring rock right with Manhattan, and Siena-Canisius has intrigue because the Saints finished strong. I do think Iona should handle Rider again, but if we're giving them open 3s and throwing the ball all over the place off their press, certainly our quarterfinal will be tight as well.

Maac tourney as usual should be wild. I really can see anything happen in first two rounds. Would not be stunned to see Niagara win round one by beating Marist but if Marist wins I see their game against Quinny as 50/50. SPU is dangerous but wouldn't blink an eye if fairfield won. First round win I most expect is Rider but again would not be stunned by a Monmouth win. Quarters I know Siena has been strong but would be very suprised if Baron loses this game. Won't predict our games at all except to say they all scare me with potential Monmouth matchup by far the least scariest. Can't see Manhattan losing to anyone in first 2 rounds except SPU. Quinny is a 50/50 proposition each game.
I also think we will see the biggest crowds ever in Springfield should Manhattan, Quinny and Iona all make the quarters, and even more if Siena makes it. Seems Maac schools are making a bigger push to get students there. Quinny gives Springfield a close team and potential Iona vs. Manhattan finals rematch has a lot of built up hype up this year and I think will bring more than last year should that happen. Also Iona (if we go far) will bring many more fans due to the kids not being on Spring break as they were last year. Not to say it will be crowded but I could see about 5-10M more fans for the entire tournament than were there last year.

Before they left Albany, the MAAC drew aprox. 55,000 total attendance for the entire Tourney...To satisfy those that thought it gave Siena a unfair advantage and for the sake of change the MAAC decided to move...
The total attendance at Springfield last year was a little over 14,000, and they would be delighted if it reaches that number this year...
The genius MAAC fathers made a gigantic mistake.....They bit off their nose to spite their face and paid dearly for it...

OT, for the MAAC Albany is the best place, for 10 teams it probably is not. Pastos will have those people in a frenzy as his teams get better. Still the meadowlands is the most fair place with 9 teams being able to drive there. Does anyone know how many yrs its going back to Albany?

I know this is an ancient facility but back than there wasn't 8 teams in the metro area (and not Ct-this is Uconn territory). They need to retry somewhere in New York/NJ metro area (and not Trenton-too far). They should be going to Albany for 1 or 2 years not 3, I guarentee Meadowlands would draw much better than it did prior. It did get almost 8,000 for Fordham Iona 84 final.

Saw this in an article about Brewster Academy. Perfect description for our situation right now:
There is a budding dynasty in prep school basketball, and it goes by the name Brewster Academy. Winners of three of the last six New England prep titles and two of the last four national championships, this season was supposed to be a "down” year for Brewster (Wolfeboro, N.H.). However, it turned into perhaps the Bobcats' most successful season in program history. While this might not be the most individually talented team in Brewster history, it is probably the most cohesive collective unit. The Bobcats approached this season's National Prep Championship -- which they won on Wednesday -- as if they were on a mission. They competed for 40 minutes each time out, defended and shared the ball incredibly well. In fact, they had at least four players finish in double figures in all three of their wins.

Would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit scared about our matchup with Rider on Sat. Was hoping Monmouth would pull off the upset.
