I believe sledge is a very good player who (based on talent and especially athletic ability) will (should) be in the rotation...if he isn't. It's because he is a)hurt or b) in the doghouse [/quote] Tiger........ The term ''In the doghouse'' has morph in over a 100 years...Back in my youth it had little to do with playing ability...It was used most always for behavior...excessive drinking was a big factor with insubordinate a close second...If your playing ability simply dropped off you were not in the dog house, but in a SLUMP... Today it is used mainly as a cover all for anything up to and including a suggested Coaches dislike...suggesting a coach might ''dog house'' a player even though it would it might hurt his coaching reputation is ludicrous .. Since as far as is known Sledge is a team player, is not insubordinate, so it would be a fair assumption that he has lost playing time because of his below expectation production.......[/p]
To suggest that he should be in the rotation is unrealistic........

No better time to develop a strong work ethic than when you become a new father and have a baby depending on you. Very hard to change that drastically in a short time frame. IDK, panic can be a good motivator

Is it time to move beyond the on-going discussion of Tavon Sledge? I am intrigued by David Laury and Ryden Hines shooting 3's and deep 2's. This will create more potential mismatches as opposing bigs will have to leave the paint creating more space and scoring opportunities. If teams choose to play zone to try to counter it typically weakens their defensive rebounding. Since it is extremely difficult to recruit typical "bigs" to programs like Iona I feel Cluess' targeting borderline bigs that can shoot deep makes perfect sense. We compete in a conference that this philosophy works, in the major conferences it would be difficult. The goal each year is to win the MAAC Tournament and make the NCAA Tournament and I feel Coach Cluess has a successful formula. Each year we have been able to reload from graduation losses. I am anxious to see the dynamic trio of AJ, David and Isaiah in action another year stronger and confident. I am sure Kelvin Amayo is anxious to end his hiatus from competition and show us what he is capable of. I hope we are seen as the preseason favorite in the MAAC. High expectations should create great energy and motivation to prove the point correct. Hopefully we can stay healthy this year. Anticipation is running high for those early season tests and great fun on the court. GO GAELS!

This board is becoming more like the MAAC board every day. All we're missing is the toothless hayseeds!

''I don't agree'' QUOTE Tiger..... Since my post included at least 3 assumptions, which one did you not agree with, or is it my opinions in general... I have no argument if it is my opinions in general, life has taught me ''Opinions are like ''A-- H----'', we all have them.

Actually iona1970 asks a good question. The only way I see Sledge playing as much or more than last year is if Casimir proves not to be ready to handle D-1.

I've heard reports from good sources that he has a poor work ethic. Interesting point! Tavon shares that attribute with every poster on this Board - including this one. De facto, if you are (I am) posting here; you have a poor work ethic. So in addition to his affinity for maroon and gold, Tavon shares a crappy work ethic with the rest of us.
