My Starting 5 Prediction
PG: A.J English SG: Kelvin Amayo SF: Isiah Williams PF: Jeylani Dublin PF: David Laury
I see Dublin starting rather than Sledge. This way we have a bigger lineup and Sledge isn't the best ball handler either and Dublin shows extreme upside to me around the hoop and game in general.

I am disappointed in not getting Jl .....however ...I still feel confident in saying we are still the team to beat in the maac......one of three need to emerge ....Hines , Robinson , or Dublin ......hopefully at least one of them will

sportsman and tiger, I agree with you both. And being greedy, it's possible that the starting PF, will be a JUCO who hasn't signed as yet.

I thought we missed out on several players this year that could've helped us but I am liking how the roster is stacking up. I do believe though we need another athletic big, I feel a 6'8 or 6'9 PF who can help laury down low will be essential. Preferably a JUCO transfer who has some experience will but I think Dublin was a good pickup to help him. This new commitment from CBA Jan svandrlik will actually turn out to be a good pickup. He reminds me of a more athletic Shane Richards with a lot more of an upside. 1 scholarship left and will be interesting to see who we pick up.

IMO we are not completely finished with this years line up. We have a vulnerable position that for reasons of loyalty is seldom discussed as such...For 3 years Sledge when looked at with open mind has contributed little except excellent effort...There appears little reason to think this year would be any different...The point guard position should be with the new addition and with backup players Amayo and English available well covered, and leave little space for Sledge and open up much more space for position maneuvering... Give it some unbiased thought,...Then fire away...

Something to remember is that that we live in a very "instant gratification" society now. These kids we're recruiting, they see not 1, not 2 but 3 stars on our roster--they know they have little chance to star right away too. Not saying this is the only reason we're not getting kids; we've gone over many potential reasons ad nauseum. But you know there's a few kids out there with huge egos and see what we have in place next year and simply won't accept the fact that they will have to wait a year or even two to be "the man".

Another factor not discussed much here is the fact that Coach C runs a tight ship. I have been on a couple of road trips voer the past few years, and our players are clearly on a tight leash. I have a feeling that Cluess lays down the law before they sign, and at that point, there are a lot of "thanks, but no thanks".

Coach Cluess has to run a tight ship to prevent all the hard work to be undone. I applaud him on establishing the hard line and to target the focused talent that he can develop. Always better to find the good fit versus trying to force square pegs in round holes. His success makes it possible to go this route. I give the staff kudos on their recruiting. Not second guessing. Now we need good health for another successful season. Interesting how other MAAC coaches are following Iona blueprint with Juco players and transfers.

MAAC write-up mentioned Daniel Robinson was a redshirt last season. I thought he played or was eligible to play 1 too many games to be redshirted. Anyone know the status? Shaquille Scott could have been redshirted though. Hopefully Robinson is healthy and can make strides this off-season.

But really it doesn't matter, Cluess will play Laury, AJ, IW, and the next 2 best players regardless of position.
