Understand we will likely be playing a game at MSG this season. Anyone know details? Darn, that probably means we lose a Maac home game. No interest in going to the Garden unless it's against a major, especially as a step child to a St. Chicken home game.

For the people that don't want to play at the garden, that game against Siena got us the publicity of being a fun high scoring team to watch and put Sean on the map. If that happened at our gym, we would have been lucky to have a paragraph in either paper the next day,

For me it's much better to have games at the HAC, costs, travel, seats, etc. But for the kids (and recruiting) I'm all for having a game at MSG, even if it means a loss of a home game. Naturally, a non-MAAC game would be preferable.

I'm gonna guess Quinny. They want NY exposure in the worst way. I'm thinking they might buy a game or two on SNY v us/or Manhattan like they did last year also. Looks like Fordham bought seven games on SNY this year against the likes of UMass Lowell. Seems like coverage for just about any game could be purchased there.

Is this more likely to be a weekend game?

After looking at St. John's garden schedule I would guess they move the home Niagara game Sunday January 25 to after St. Johns vs Duke, with probably a 4:30 PM tip off (or possibly before at 11AM). Another possibility is playing before the Villanova vs St. johns 9PM game on Tuesday January 6th. That would mean probably a 6PM start that night against Quinny. Last one I see is adding a game to the Holiday festival on December 14th and therefore moving Indiana State game there.

Those are some great guesses.

I added my third guess (Indiana State) after I saw Guy's comment. My bet would be on Niagara. I had said I wouldn't want to play a Maac game at MSG but if it's a chance to play before or after St. John's vs Duke, that is a chance for some good publicity and I would agree that Iona has to take that opportunity.

prefer to play before so crowd builds as game goes on...the after game is the opposite

Some comments about some of our opponents: basketball.realgm.com/article/235040/College-Basketball-Preview-14-15-The-RestArticle includes: And don't overlook Iona. While they lose some key players, transfer Jeylani Dublin was an amazing per minute scorer at Longwood. He averaged 10 PPG while playing 20 minutes per game. And I need to start campaigning for Iona head coach Tim Cluess for consideration for a Top 11 job. The man is brilliant offensively. His offenses have ranked 27th, 17th, 19th, and 7th in the nation the last four years.

I don't know which one of you guys is posting as Basketball Jones on the Fordham Board, but that last guy's post is a Fordham Board classic. Quinny bought two games on SNY last year v. us and v. Manhattan, so I guess they will air MAAC teams, LOL. I'm in the camp that I'd rather we put the money into the Hines renovation than buy airtime on TV to air infomercials about Iona basketball. If we don't get Hines done, then maybe that makes sense.
