You'll see what Lowell BB is all about.[/quote] IC.....They were really not bad for 1st year Div.1.....They finished 10-18, but played much better as year went on...They usually draw crowds of 1000 or less, but their home arena must be not bad as I see a game that drew 3,700...They did beat a pretty good Albany team, and although this years schedule is incomplete, it is also not bad and comparable to one that Pathos made sure was a cup cake job as the Siena crowd want a good record year at any cost...

I don't know which one of you guys is posting as Basketball Jones on the Fordham Board, but that last guy's post is a Fordham Board classic. Quinny bought two games on SNY last year v. us and v. Manhattan, so I guess they will air MAAC teams, LOL. I'm in the camp that I'd rather we put the money into the Hines renovation than buy airtime on TV to air infomercials about Iona basketball. If we don't get Hines done, then maybe that makes sense. This is Forham's SNY schedule. First three games of interest to us: Also I think they are the three best games on their SNY schedule. Imagine that from the lowly MAAC: Siena Monmouth Manhattan Then, ouch : The aforementioned UMass-Lowell Maryland Eastern Shore Howard South Carolina State Exposure is Exposure but are the last four games worth paying for? Hope the MAAC 3-0's them. Rambacker will be suicidal.

Well have to think they want to pay for the easiest games to be on TV in the hopes that whoever is watching will see them actually win. Problem is other than a Fordham fan and a handful of other people with NYC hoops interest who's gonna watch these games? Fordham v Maryland Eastern Shore? If we ever decide to do something like this I hope we pay for games against quality opponents.

Oops. Forgot UMass too. That drops MAAC games somewhat although Manhattan should be their best local viewer game.
There sure are a number of lunatics on that board. It's not as bad as Siena, but it can get out of control very quickly there. The fringe at National U are only concerned about the number of wins. They haven't hooked-up the idea of OOC home/road games against quality opponents yet. It's like they don't trust their talent. "Learn how to win" not "battle test " the team seems to be their mantra.

sigael, you're basing your opinion (probably) of Fordham fans on what you read on the Fordham message board. At least that is what I do, and why I don't feel bad for their loooooooong stretch of being one of the DI's worst teams. But to be fair, I do know some FU alumns and they are nothing like the people who post on that site. They do say that they understand the futility of the posters, and that is why so many are delusional. Not sure if that's true, but it does seem to make sense. I'm not sure how I would handle it if Iona was "Fordham Bad". Sort of reminds me of the old Brooklyn Dodgers' fans, who were always saying, "Wait till next year".

ESPN's A-10 preview is out. Opponents UMASS and Geo. Mason provided below. Fordham predicted dead last.
4. Massachusetts Minutemen
Derrick Gordon has garnered a lot of off-court attention, but he's also a great player. UMass has been a central topic in college basketball over the past few months for reasons far removed from what happens on the court. Ever since Derrick Gordon came out in April, becoming the first openly gay player in men's Division I basketball, fans have spent plenty of time speculating about what life will be like for UMass this season. The answer is "quite good," because Gordon is part of a team that could contend for another NCAA tourney bid.
Granted, the Minutemen must replace all-everything point guard Chaz Williams, but Gordon, Cady Lalanne, Trey Davis and Maxie Esho form a strong returning core. They'll receive immediate help from West Virginia transfer Jabarie Hinds, who should slide into Williams' slot and hopes to spur an offense that ranked third in the A-10 in effective field goal percentage in conference games (50.5). If Hinds blends in quickly and Lalanne (11.3 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 2.2 bpg) continues his development into a potential first-team all-conference player, fourth place might be a low-water mark for the Minutemen.
13. George Mason Patriots
It was a rough adjustment to the A-10 for the Patriots, as they went 4-12 in their first season in the conference. There aren't many reasons to expect better results in Year 2. Paul Hewitt doesn't return a single double-digit scorer, and will rely on six newcomers to revive a defense that gave up 110.4 points per 100 possessions in Atlantic 10 play, which was second worst in the conference.
Guard Patrick Holloway (8.7 ppg, .411 3FG) is poised to become a legit scorer, and Julian Royal, a 6-8, 232-pound transfer from Georgia Tech, should help immediately. But realistically, improvement is at least another year away.
14. Fordham Rams
It's always nice to return four starters, but when those guys were part of a squad that went 2-14 in conference play, any enthusiasm should be severely tempered. Fordham simply couldn't get stops last season, giving up 115.4 points per 100 possessions, and the news wasn't any better on offense (finishing last in the conference in eFG% at 43.5).
Jon Severe could lead the conference in scoring after averaging 17.3 ppg as a frosh, and freshmen Eric Paschall and Nemanja Zarkovic were impressive on a 4-0 preseason trip to Canada. But make no mistake: The Rams still have a massive amount of rebuilding left.
